Ramsay Street
Karl and Susans house. Well, im still in good old Melbourne, and im a working man once again!
But first i should tell you all that i saw new years in on the beach, it was warm and not a gale or rain cloud in sight, i dont recall much of the evening as i had a cold which meant i managed to get way more drunk way quicker than normal, but i awoke in the morning in my own bed and in one piece with a half eaten sausage roll next to my head - and yes i did finish it of for breakfast.
For the past 3 weeks i have been running round random suburbs "delivering" Yellow Pages, the idea is that you are meant to be able to do 2 loads per day - 420 books per load but on the fist day we only managed one as we were doing it all by hand and carefully placing each book on the doorstep of each house, it seemed impossible to do two loads a day untill the next morning when the boss gave us two trolleys that we should have had fom the beginning, the second day was in 36

View from the bottom of the street. degree heat and was probably the most tiring days work i ever did and despite the trolleys we still only managed a single load.
Since then however we have devised a scheme where by we load 13 books onto a trolley and the other guy drives 13 houses down and and we overlap eachother, also we have modified the delivery method which now see's the books being carelessly flung over fences, hedges and walls in the general direction of the letter boxes without a second glance, without stopping and most importantly withouth caring as long as we get a wage.
I have been paired with a guy named Torsti fron Finland - or as i like to call him Swedish Trev, theer are another 5 guys and 1 lady doing the same job and they are mostly from France, Italy, Ireland and Russia. By doing 2 loads a day we earn $109 tax free dollars a day (we had to get an Australian Business Number which makes us all businesses and we dont get taxed) which is actually more than i was earning at good old Trade Windows, plus its 6 days a week.
Anyway, in other news i

The inside of the stadium, it actually took untill the end of set 1 to get this full. have visisted Pin Oak Court aka Ramsay Street, me and another guy drove up there and had a look around, the people actually living there must be very tolerant as there seems to be always at least 30 tourists all gawking at there houses and blocking the drive ways, i was suprised at how small it was but it was cool and most importantly free! Still haven't got round to going to a Neighbours night to 'meet the stars', i think that will be a good thing to do when i leave Melbourne.
I have also been to the Australian Open Quarter Fianals, first up was Ms Sharapova Vs some other russian i'd never heard of - needless to say i was delighted that my wish had come true and she didn't dissapoint with the grunting, the only downside was i was on the back row and 3x optical zoom simply was not good enough for some of the close up's i'd had in mind. After the main event came Martina Hingis Vs Kim Clijsters which was a decent game but half way through my interest began to recede and by the time i'd watched the first 2 sets

The future wife in action. of Tommy Haas Vs Davidoff i'd been sat there for 6 hours, my arse was numb and i wasn't paying attention at all so i left early, still $85 for 6 hours of entertainment aint bad and it was a good experience im glad i had.
Today i went to see a room in a house share, its $100 a week including bills and i'd get my own bed, the hostel is $130 sharing with 5 others, the only problem is the house would add 45 mins to my journey to work which already stands at 30 mins, id probably have to be up at about 5.30 am - Gartside! I'll let you know what happens next time.
Thats pretty much all i've been upto since Christmas, untill i got the job i was suicidely bored, and since i got the job im to tired to do much in the evening except read or sleep, and i only get sundays off, but once i've reached my target of cash im outta here to begin stage 2 of my travels!

Your still alive!
Nice to hear from you Andy for the first time in over a month. Your description of your job was truly enlightening, I now think I know everything there is to know about delivering yellow pages. Keep the faith.
