this is the boring view from where I'm staying in Rotorua - just water! how dull...
Helllooooooo!!!! Well here I am - arrived in Auckland all in one piece after exactly 24 hrs from take off in Vienna, no delays, all my baggage came too and I don't even have to adjust my watch (exactly 12 hrs difference).

I slept a little, had some breakfast joined by a couple from Bavaria!!! on the next table - well, well how would have thought that.

The flight was fine, especially the part from Vienna to Kuala Lumpur, where we were in the capable hands of our pilot - wait for it - DEAN MARTIN!!! And I always thought it was Frank Sinatra who wanted me to "come fly with him"!!
On the stop in Kuala Lumpur I passed the time by learning some vocabulary of I don't even know what language - what do they spek in Malaysia? (if that is where Kuala Lumpur is at all! not sure). Anyway, whatever the language, I know that gate is "pintu", immigration is "imigresen" and - my favourite of all - tuntutan bagasi!!! I'll let you guess what that means. You might wonder why I memorized all signs I saw, but I didn't feel like the Herald Tribune, nor
swanswanswan

they are black here - everything the other way round down under :-)
"David Copperfield" at the time :-)

Another linguistic high point of my journey was reading the english translations in the Austrian Airlines magazine. Perhaps I should be a translator after all, at least AUA seams to be in desperate need of one. e.g in an article about viennese balls three quarter time was translated as "three-four-time" ... and best of all: a german saying was literally translated (and not correctly either if you ask me) as "the end of the path is the end in itself"!! Which means what exactly? I'd say nothing. An diejenigen die des Deutschen maechtig sind: gemeint war doch tatsaechlich "Der Weg ist das Ziel"!!! genial, sag ich nur.

So, now I"m at the hotel waiting for Mart to come and pick me up, which I hope he will!

Will get back with more news soon. Love to you all from a rather happy Angharad. xxx

Dazu muss ich ein paar Zitate aus Englisch Schularbeiten (nicht von mir!!!) loswerden: mein favorite: "He kicked him into his lends and made himself me nothing you nothing out of the powder" = "Er kickte ihn in die Lenden und machte sich mir nichts, dir nichts aus dem Staub." Oder: "He enjoyed his life in crowded trains" = "Er genoss sein Leben in vollen Zügen"
