The TajThe TajThe Taj

J's uncle's house.
Our last night in Thailand we went to dinner with J's aunt and uncle at our favorite Thai restaurant, Baan Khanitha with some of the best food we've ever had. Starting with miang kam and following with dishes including spicy shredded catfish, the only reason this meal was not perfect was that the ice chips in the ice kachang were not quite small enough for J's tastes :-)

Afterwards, the four of us went for a two hour Thai massage at our favorite place (King's Body House), despite the protestations of J's uncle due to an admittedly bad parking experience. Cars are triple or quadruple parked on the curb, and you just leave the car locked, but with parking break off. The "valets" simply roll cars out of the way to let cars in and out. Despite the risk of parking anxiety, we had a great massage. The first time we went here, it was our first Thai massage experience and it was...interesting. This time, we know what's going on, and are able to relax and enjoy it more. Thai massage is more like rythmic pressure and assisted yoga stretching than traditional oil massage. Your whole family can share the same room as you wear silk pajamas the whole time. Typically the first hour is spend just on your legs, and the remaining hour on your upper body. CM was uncomfortable about the back cracking and the technique where the arteries in your leg are compressed and held for 30 seconds, but she is quickly learning Thai phrases such as "chucka chee" (it tickles), and that "ow" means more, or harder in Thai (not exactly what you're trying to communicate in that situation!)

Once again, Thailand was wonderful and we're really going to miss family, the food and the massages!
