Good morning,

Today we are leaving paradise and are taking the plane up North of Thailand. Sukhothai will be our new place for the next 4 days. It is the old capital of Thailand. No beach or ocean, it will be a change.
Last night we thought we were under attack as we heard 10 gun shots behind our cabin. This morning we found out that this is the way the celebrate someones birthday. Go figure.

Yesterday we took time to shop for the first time in Chaweng Beach. Very bussy place with lots of clothing stores, very cheap clothing. The kids were in heaven. All kinds of beach wear for under $10,- Buying here is an art at it self. You start of with bidding 50% of the asking price and then you end up going back and forwards on a calculater until you finish the deal. And tou communicate the amount with the help of a calculator !!!!
Even the kids got into it. One time Kirsten and I were buying flipflops for here and I was planning to run away after I offert 250B. but Kirsten was afraid to not get her flipflops and said 280B. The deal was made but I knew that 250B would have done the trick. So Kirsten ended up paying the 30 extra Baht.

Miriam was talking to the receptionist here last night when she paid the bill. They were talking about the wages here. A receptionist makes here around 4000 Baht a month, that is 1200 CAD a month and they work long hours and are very very friendly !!!!!!

Yes, miscalculation from my side, it was early morning when I wrote that. Miriam
