View from Botanical Gardens
Best view in Sydney, same view as open air cinema but at night! Well I've now been in Sydney since the 28th December so this is definitely the longest time I have been in one place throughout my travels. Can you believe it has been over 4 months now? Anyway, was sad to see you guys back home are having severe storms at the moment. I know what you mean about adverse weather, it's just to bloody hot over here at the moment and way too sunny, all this squinting is making my eyes sore, and you think you've got it tough with a little wind!
Ok, so where was I? Sydney is pretty cool, I definitely preferred to be on the move but its nice to just be in one place and get to know it rather than just passing through. So much to do here, great nightlife, great sights and cheap food especially as I'm living in China Town area, heaven! I actually lost weight on my travels but since being here in Sydney its all come flooding back again.
Things I have done in Sydney:
20-20 cricket match between Australia and England. Another sterling performance by the lads, well done England! Went with Adi, the lad i met
Botanical Gardens
View of opera house from the trees in Sydney before, was a great night on the beers, finishing at 6am in an Irish bar and a Kebab, don't you just love the British!
Climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge Plinth - Sadly not the real Harbour 'Bridgeclimb' but you can go to the museum and climb one of the support structures much cheaper and can actually take a camera up there aswell unlike the bridge climb. The view is pretty good as well, I was impressed! Little Pub Ammo for ya, the bridge took 7 yrs 356 days to build and 16 people died making it, go on impress your friends!
Botanical Gardens - A freebie in Sydney and very nice indeed. This is where you get the best view of the harbour in Sydney. A free entrance to the park which winds around the bays of the harbour. From here you can see the opera house and in the background the old coat hanger. Not a huge amount to do really, just sit and watch but on a nice day this is one of my favourite things to do. I even went to the best cinema in the world here, you sit on the banks
The Bridge Plinth
View from up in the South East tower of the harbour bridge. View to city! in a stand with a view of Sydney like no other, the lit up Skyline, Harbour Bridge and Opera House and at 8.30 the screen is raised from the water and you watch a movie. It's amazing with all the Bats and Parrots flying over head, one even pooed on me, I didn't mind when I saw that the other 90%!h(MISSING)it the people behind!
Darling Harbour - Have been frequenting the Imax cinema at Darling Harbour because it is so cool. I love it! I also love Darling Harbour, so nice and chilled out, the kind of place you can easily just spend the afternoon people watching. Some great bars and restaurants and the biggest club in Sydney Home, which was great on my one night out there!
Home and Away aka Palm Beach - Home and Away is filmed on a beach called Palm Beach just up the coast from Sydney and hearing this me, Susan, Dutch girl called Martina and Lawrence rented a 4x4 jeep and headed up there. Its really beautiful, a place where all the stars have homes. The sea has great beaches and directly behind are the cliffs and hills which reminded
The Crew
Sam, Lawrence, Kelly, Me and Rupert (from Mottingham)on the bridge. Photo by Susan the photoshy! me of the Beverley Hills, really picturesque. The drive was fun, 2 people uninsured and near misses (Lawrence), reminded me of the drive from Sydney to Melbourne when we were stopped by the police twice, once when I was over the limit and passed the breathe test and once when Lawrence was driving with no insurance and got away with that too. Good police force! Anyway, we packed our sleeping bags incase we liked it and decided to get a shit load of Alcohol and sleep in the sand. It was so much fun, playing drinking games in the near dark with 3 candles keeping us lit. The sky was full of a zillion stars. All very romantic until 2.5 bottles of red wine later I must have passed out in someones garden, where I woke up at 7.30am and the car had to be back at 9! Still, we managed to blag that we were on time as we pulled in at 10am, saying it was their fault! It worked! Brilliant trip, another great Aussie road trip!!
Opera House Tour - Did the inside of the famous house, everyone sees the outside but me, I'm a cultured guy,
I know it all! Was an ok trip, not really the sort of thing you'd do twice but good to see. The main concert hall is impressive but I really think it would be better seeing a show that just walking around.
Of course I've done more than just this, nudist beaches, swimming in the sea, great nights out etc but I'm tired of typing so will let you enjoy my pictures!
