A nice lunch spotA nice lunch spotA nice lunch spot

This was our lunch spot on our walk to cerro llauo llauo. We were completely alone at this spot the photo was taken using a timer and a rock. What a hard life we lead.....
Welcome once again to this weeks installment kids!

We spent 5 nights in beautiful Bariloche which surely has some of the most inspiring scenery on the planet. It is the Argentinian gateway to Patagonia, with the Chilean gateway being Puetro Montt which is on the other side of the lake which Bariloche is situated on.

When we arrived in Bariloche most of the town seemed to be sitting on a grassy hill in the middle of town eating icecream and staring at the snow covered mountains on the other side of the lake, not bad eh. Well as the saying goes when in rome- so we figured that when in Bariloche we should join them. This was easier than expected with the best icecream shop we had ever been to right near this previously mentioned hill and the other half of the town hanging out the doors. If you go to Bariloche go to Hasta Juegos or you will regret it!!!!!

Other activities that we did apart from eating and sitting were many and varied. On the Friday we went white water rafting and when our guide ¨captain¨ introduced himself as Juan Triona and I nearly pissed ourselves
I am king of the world....I am king of the world....I am king of the world....

The only problem with this picture is that there is a higher mountain next to Peter that needs to be summited before he really is the ´king of the world´´...
laughing, this was his real name and he lived up to all the Juan stereotypes from the last blog with him trying capsize the boat and telling us it would be funny when we all fell. I have to admit that as a captain he made the day! However the scenery where we went rafting was amazing with waterfalls flowing off the mountians and into the river and beautiful forest on either side of us. One of the highlights was when we were allowed to jump out at one of the rapids and float through it with Juan telling us it would be ¨fun¨ and he wasnt wrong. So after meeting a real life Juan who was as crazy as the made up Juans we figured it wasnt fair to have anymore Juan jokes.

The day after our white water rafting adventure we went for a day hike to a little place called Cerro lloau lloau, this was a small reserve about 40 min by bus from Bariloche the scenery here was once again spectacular with the walk providing some great photo oppurtunities. When we stopped for lunch we found a great spot and the only way we could

This was the view from the top of the small mountain that we conquered. You can see the andes behind a crystal clear lake
take a photo was by putting the camera on a rock and using the timer as not one person came along to ruin our lunch the whole time we were there.
From there we hiked/ mountain climbed up to the top of a mountain called Cerro llaou llaou. When Triona asked if the mountain was another 100 metres higher she was happy when she was assured by Peter that it was not. It was actually about 250 metres to the top and she wasnt particularly happy when she found out, however if you dont ask the right questions you dont get right answers! The view from the top was amazing and with nobody else there pushing us over to get a photo we could take some time to really enjoy the view and it really did take some time to absorb it all.

The hike had some amazing views and we were really lucky to see few other people on the day we went as it is a really popular spot and rightly so. After the hike we went to a place called Cerro campanario where you get a ski lift to the top of a mountain where more

Need I say anymore! Awesome....
unreal views were to be found. However here we encountered more people as it is remarkably easy to get on a chair lift than climb a mountain and as such many tour buses stop at the bottom. The views here where no less breathtaking and we spent an hour at the top just taking out time to enjoy and take everything in.

After these days of activity it would have been nice to be able to relax however we went kayaking and instead of being relaxing it was frustrating as our kayak malfunctioned requiring us to paddle 50 times more than anyone else.

We left bariloche on the Monday and headed to Mendoza about 20 hours north by bus and is wine capital of Argentina

Hope all is going well for everyone. Will let you know all about Mendoza in our next installment.

What more can i say.... there were a lot of mountains

Peter took this photo when we went on our day walk. He ventured down a cliff and balanced on a log over the water to take it- so appreciate it!

Our hostel was located on the top floor of the highest building in Bariloche (10 floors). This is a photo of Peter in front of the view. It was very cold up there...

On one of the nights that we were in Bariloche there was a full moon which made the lake look amazing at night.

As you can clearly see the rapids on this river were ferocious.... This was taken from the top of the river- yes the rapids did get bigger than this!

This is of us in our malfunctioning kayak. It did not have the capacity to go straight. In the end Peter had to take full control of the paddling- which suited Triona as she got a free ride.

The lakes around the area were crystal clear and looked very tempting to swim in. However as we soon discovered they were beyond cold....

We had to go up ski lifts too reach this viewing platform- which was a little hard for Peter (fear of heights)- but was definately worth it.
