Happy New Year
I didnt take any pictures on NYE. This one is from the next day. But I just thought it looks funny... and gives an Impression how many Party people felt the night before...LOLHi folks.
I spent New Years in Airlie Beach, but I cant recommend it. It seems to me, youngsters in Oz try to fill in as much alcohol as possible on every (legal) occasion / spot. Actually I enjoyed the day after much more. Because on New years i luckily found a spot to sleep... actually I slept in hostel, but without a bed. So I slept on the floor. Because my initial plan to sleep on the beach didnt work out due to the heavy rain.
After Airlie Beach I went to Mackay and the next day right to Rockhampton, alias Rocky alias the Beef capital. Of course I had to check that out by myself. Hm the 400g Rump was so wonderful after a couple days of low budjet Backpacker food. Rocky was surprisingly nice. I liked the Customs building. Unfortunately I didnt carry a camera on me in Rocky.
After one night at the Rocky YHA I took off for Great Keppel Island. My Impressions in a few words. Many Beaches, high prices and worth going. I stayed at the YHA again. But for those loving a little bit more comfort, there is also a Mercure
Mackay
A nice urban stile town. I enjoyed to see 2 Story buildings again. And with a sense of architecture. resort and a short runway.
Basicly there are three things you can do: snorkel, sleep and get a sunburn... LOL
After two nights I returned to the mainland and back to an affordable supermarket in Rocky. I really enjoyed cocking two pieces of meat and some potatoes with a litle bit of garlic butter. hmmmm
Today I arrived in Agnes Water /Town of 1770. Its a very nice place. And Olli proposed me to stay in the cool bananas... well Olli, thats where I'm at.
Maybe I am doing a surfcourse tomorrow or finsh my diving degree as advanced diver. Surfing is pretty cheap - only $16.50 for 2h of school.
