Gondola ride anyone??
They're decked out pretty flash hey! Ahhh Italy, what's not to love?!? We've been surviving on a healthy diet of pizza and pasta whilst touring one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Venice warmed us up ever so slightly by turning on the sunshine, and there wasnt a hint of flooding in St Marks square (a regular occurance we're told) so a good time was had by all.....apart from a minor mishap with a bidet. I promised you our 'classy' toilet stories, so here they are.....
Mick thought he would test out the bidet in our hotel bathroom, only hindsight taught him that he should have tested the water temperature before placing his backside over the tap, nothing like a bit of a burnt flesh to start the day....hahaha, actually it wasnt that bad, he just scolded himself slightly, not to mention embarrassed himself.
I on the other hand had flashbacks of my scary toilet days in russia with a psychotic public toilet at the venice train station. It was a fancy pants 'automatic everything' kind of toilet, that didnt require you do anything besides sit down. However, it had a mind of its own and would flush as soon as you sat, aswell as
Posers
Posing on the Grand Canal!! squirt water from a grate on the floor supposedly for cleaning purposes. This strange 'act of God' had me cowering in the corner wondering what the hell was going on, and far too scared to sit down, everytime I moved a muscle within the cubicle, the toilet would start doing its thing. I came out and tried to force Mick to go in there and see if it did the same to him, but he refused to enter the girls toilets for 'experimental' purposes.
Anyway, thats definitely enough potty talk, lets see, what else did we do???
Well, we basically just wandered around the narrow laneways of Venice, getting lost only a couple of times (trust me thats good for venice) and ate a 'shit load' of Pizza.
We had to catch a train from Venice to Florence, then onto Pisa airport in order to fly to Malta, and for the first time on this journey so far, we stupidly boarded the wrong train. We realised as soon as it departed but could do nothing but cack our dacks and hope the next stop wasnt in Germany. Thankfully, the next station was only 15 minutes or so away (felt like
Saint Mick
Oh Sorry thats actually just plain old Aussie Mick in Saint MARKS square. 5 days) and we got off, assuming we'd have to wait for the next train to go back to where we came from then start again (panicking as we had a plane to catch) only to discover, the train we were on was heading in the direction we needed to go, and would infact get us there quicker than what the one we were supposed to be on would have. We re-loaded our luggage and boarded it again while other passengers pointed and laughed. Oh well, we got there in the end.
We are now in Malta and I have to say, this is the best damn european country we've been to so far, and we may never want to leave. But, you're gonna have to wait for the next instalment for more details on this little ripper.
Til then....

Hi there! Superb toilet-story! I never thought of sharing my 'love-hate' stories with toilets, showers, bathtubs, etc in Asia ... but I may follow your example and make it public. And great to hear that you managed to get the flight in time! Equally good luck next time and enjoy the trip! Alex http://pfoggtrips.blogspot.com
