After a rejuvenating night of business hotel sleep, my friends and I descend to the Hotel Regalo's restaurant area for our free breakfast. Miso soup, rice, and salad anyone? I am quite pleased with tea in hand, as flurries still fall from the sky through a picturesque window setting, displayng the kawa (river) that splits Hiroshima in two.
Miyajima is an island 40 minutes outside the city by train. a short ferry ride will grant you entrance to this island full of wild deer, Shinto shrines, and okonomiyaki restaurants. It just so happens that I love okonomiyaki and wild deer, so I was happy as can be! We rented bicycles to cruise around the various international communities of tourists. The large red gate at the waters edge marks the entrance to a booming shrine originally built in 1300 something. Unfortunately, mother nature swept in with the form of a typhoon, and it is now a reconstruction. Notice the 5 storied pagoda? camera please!
Four hours of travel land us back in Okayama with some much needed relaxation time on our hands. Sushi chef on the prowl! See you tomorrow - A

okay -- now you're just showing off!
not only is the green machine EATing sushi, but has become a master sushi chef?!! i can't take it!! i love sushi, so work on perfecting your technique ;o) and forget the house w/the moat ... i say you construct a pagoda house smack dab in the middle of rockville! but on second thought, i'm not educated enough to know if that'd be at all offensive, so you might want to hold off on that ...
