Bettys blog...
Hey everybody hope you're all well and have had a fab xmas and are looking forward to the new year? We've moved from Sydney centre out to Bondi today and its lovely to be out of the city. Our new hostel 'Surfside' has a much friendlier atmosphere, its lots smaller but much rowdier too by all accounts so i reckon the earplugs will have to come out tonight! We were just walking back from our meal with a lovely girl we met Danni and spotted a massive crowd - Paris Hilton was doing some clothes shopping (for a change) in the boutique oppposite our hostel, madness! we got to see her walk out - impressed aint ya i can tell!
Anyways some culture...last week we took a day trip to the Blue Mountains - a massive mountain range just an hour away from Sydney centre which was wicked to see, they have a blue haze over them from the euculyptus (cant spell) rising from the forest. We saw the rock formation called the Three Sisters, and a waterfall which had become a bit of a trickle cos of the water shortage! We also went to a wildlife sanctuary where
Bondi Beach Xmas Day
Just chilling..........! we cuddled koalas and there were walabees roaming round and a 4m croc (not roaming round thank god!) It was at this place i succeded in deleting all my pics taken so far - i was gutted i cant tell ya, all my beautiful pics gone! booooo! but yesterday i took my camera in to a shop and somehow they restored them yeeeeeey!
Yesterday we took a 2 hour bus ride in the baking heat to Palm Beach where Home and Away is filmed, it was a beautiful beach and we had our pics taken at the Summer Bay hut ha! Then after 1/2 hour it went freezing and started thundering so we took the 2 hour trip back again, was kinda worth it tho!
Went to a fab market in Paddington today, very much like Spitalfields in London - so much nice stuff god damn tiny backpack!
We're just preparing for our new years eve where we're going out early to get a good spot for the fireworks and its no drinking so we are planning to gaffer tape our flat bottles of vodka to our thighs under our dresses cunning plan huh?!- god how embarrassing if we get
caught! "ive no idea how that got there!" So we've made a lovely little picnic and are meeting up with a few mates we've met so far so am really looking forward to it. Its been a mad xmas so far, Oz is an amazing place just wish you were all here! Thanks for the emails and calls and texts keep em coming pleeease!
Loads of love - Happy New Year see you in 2007! xxxxxxxxxxx
Westwood's Words.......... Alright guys!! Well Kate has pretty much covered what we've been up to! Paddington Market today was wicked - I could of bought so much stuff but I was very reserved (for once!!), really chilled atmosphere, kinda hippy vibe! Loved it..... Palm Beach was beautiful and the day before we went to Bronte (another beach), seriously Sydney is surrounded by them - its great! Was in Darling Harbour last night drinking lots of wine (its like the posh part of Sydney..... so lovely there!), so moving hostels this morning was an experience - couldn't get that damn backpack on my back and when I do it feels like my legs are about to give way - jesus its hard work lugging
that round on the bus etc.........funny though - I took up two seats because I couldn't take it off!
So New Years Eve tomorrow.........got a picnic ready and plotting how to sneak booze in - either down my skirt (!) or tape it to my leg!! Fingers crossed......! Basement Jaxx are playing Bondi Beach and they are setting the stage up so we may get back in time to hear some of that (haven't got tickets but you'll be able to hear!), so we're going to Mrs Macquaires Point - 25,000 people (and thats just in that area!!) all to watch the fireworks.....can you even imagine that?! I'm going to be there - so exciting!
So............Christmas Day was very bizarre - Bondi Beach in the day - jet ski-ing Santa's, TV crews everywhere, people dressed up, Gatecrasher in the pavilion, music, people and food everywhere - so surreal! It was so hot that day aswell! Ate our Christmas Dinner in a place called 'The Gaff' - basically a nightclub - I could barely see what I was eating - the wine was good though!! The party was called 'Orphans Christmas Dinner and Party'!! Turned out a good day though - thanks for phoning me Ash, Jo and Stef - loved the singing!!! Boxing Day.......we watched the start of the annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race from Watsons Bay, cool to see loads of yachts heading out to see, helicopters everywhere and people having picnics while the yachts went by! We had fish and chips after....yum!
Having a great time - sometimes I look around and can't believe how lucky I am to be here! Happy New Year, hope 2007 brings everyone what they want and if it doesn't you can always come out and join me in my adventures "Westwood takes on the world"!! Hope everyone is ok - keep the emails coming, I want to know what you all got up to Xmas and New Year!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
