Flew from Cairns down to Melbourne for 2 reasons mainly Christmas and the Ashes 4th test. Had a few days to myself while my family went off to Ayers Rock so was great to catch up with my mate Paul who I was on the Ayers Rock trip with. Within 4 hours of landing I was back at the Neighbours night, Christmas special and again I was not dissapointed with the evening. I really just chilled out for the next few days, a little drinking and a MCG stadium tour were the main points of interest. I even met Dan Thorne and Paul Pitcher for an evening which was good fun. Shame Paul barely made 2am, when his Dad was the last one standing, still he had just landed from Hong Kong so I'll let him off.

A few days after and it was Christmas and believe me it isn't really anything like the Christmas I know and love back home. The weather was the weirdest thing, it firstly was cold when normally it would be 30 degrees or something but it was closer to 13 degrees. We had luch at a really great restaurant on the beach in St Kilda, drinking champagne etc. Then the heavens opened and it was windy and pissed down with rain. Luckily we were indoors and changed our plans from a christmas BBQ on the beach. After dinner it was back to the hotel for games etc and then suddenly it started to snow/sleet. So I got my white christmas which was very wierd. They do say that Melbourne can have 4 seasons in 1 day and this was very true on Christmas day.

Boxing day it was Cricket time, and 90,000 people at the legendary MCG. I was in a box for the first day and it was great. Amazing seats, free bar which me and my old man were never far from, in fact within maybe 1.5 hours of being there, we'd drunk between us, a glass of wine, glass of champagne and 14 glasses of Pimms. Then it was luch time and even more! Needless to say it was messy, I dont even remember the cricket much, although I did see Shane Warne get his 700th test wicket. Sadly followed by 4 more, crappy England batsmen!!

Also had tickets to the 2nd day and my last in Melbourne before

Our eyes give it away, we were pissed!!!
flying onto Sydney for New Years. This time not from the comfort of a catered box but right at the top of the highest stand. I was so hungover from the previous day that I think I waited till 4pm to have my first and only beer of the day! Cricket started and finished well for England , but i get the feeling a 4-0 score line is inevitable.

Hope everyone who reads this had a lovely Christmas and will have a great new year.
