Lazy days...
I've just come to the end of my Byron Bay stay.

The last ten days have been spent enjoying the sand and sea of beautiful Byron Bay. We were staying in a large 16 bed dorm, and numerous people have come and gone since we've been here, it almost feels a little like home now!

Bryon has five beaches, Belongi and Main beach are the closest so most days have been spent there lying on the beach working on the tan and then body surfing in the sea. I prefer Belongi beach to Main as it has better waves and was the unoffical nude beach, although I've never seen anyone nude! Bryon a really cool place where you see lots of stoned hippies walking around and there's always people playing music in the street at night, one night a band was playing in the street outside the beach hotel and I think they got more people watching them then the band that was getting paid inside!

The first day we arrived was Saturday and BBQ night at the hostel for $6, not bad. After that we went out around town and ended up in the Beach hotel where

This is the other side of Cape Byron and also had the best surf here too. Good to escape from the people at Byron as only a not many came here.
they have live bands on most nights. The following 3 or 4 days were spent on either Belongi or Main beach with some nights out and in, including going to the infamous Cheeky Monkeys. We went out with a Candian guy and an American girl from our dorm and all ended up dancing on the tables (it's almost compulsory in Cheeky's).

We met two lads from Devon in our dorm who had body boards which inspired us to get a body board from reception (they give them out for free) and try our hand at it. I didn't like it at first because it just seemed to make it harder to swim. We then made the 20 minute walk over to Tallows Beach on the other side of Cape Byron, wow, this is the nicest beach I've seen in Australia so far. There were hardly any people on the beach and it was backed by sand dunes and the cape headland at one end. We had brought our body boards as we had heard the surf was good at Tallow. It was too, the waves here were bigger than those at the other beaches and this is when I

began to enjoy using the body board (it would have been too rough without a board), still it did make it difficult to swim.

The last few days have been cloudy with rain, arrrgghhh! So I took advantage of the bad weather and sorted out the rest of my trip, booking both Frasier Island and the Whitsundays. Whilst stressfully trying to sort out accommodation for Christmas and New Year. I also now get free internet at the travel shop where I booked the trip, so have been taking advantage of that too!

Luckily the last two days, including today when I leave, have been nice and I've again been able to get on the beach and in the sea. Off to a place called Coolangatta later today which is supposed to be a little surfing town, then to Brisbane for Christmas!
