When Johanna invited us to stay at her Butterfly farm in Mindo, we were SO excited!!! I had already been there once and I absolutely loved it. Seriously... best weekend EVER ... ok maybe not ever but its UP THERE!! So friday night we all went out and had like the best night ever, we danced all night long!! It was awesome! Then the next morning we got up at like 6h30 (Too early for me especially when out til 4h in the morning). But, me, Darren and Emily went to Mindo with Johanna, her dad and her brother in an effin cool truck. I kinda want to steal it, but I wont, I promise! So the drive is usually beautiful, but I couldnt really concentrate on the view since I was hung over and its a frigging bumpy ride ... the price to pay for a good night! Anyway when we finally got there, Johanna (Professional cook, by the way) Made us an AMAZING breakfast. Ok im still not over it and i kinda dont want to ever cook for myself again, due to the comparison with Johannas cooking! But anyway, that day was SO amazing!!!!!!! (After my nap) Me
and Darren started our day by tubbing down the river. It might look leisurly but dont let it fool you.... (Lets just say I know why they use helmets). Ok that was super fun, but then we were stranded for like 45 mins, shoeless. But HEY its Mindo... whateves... We just chilled out/looked for food until we decided to walk back without shoes on a dirt road while signing Tenacious Ds song "Fuck her Gently" .... it was fabulous... then we finally caught up with Emily who had our stuff then headed back to town for some food!!! With Emilys hot connections we got a deal to go Canopying!! OMG BEST TIME EVER!! The place was like a 2 hour walk from town, but we hitched a ride up there!!! Thank you good lord! So I though the Canopy thing was like one rope or something.. but it was a huge treck from mountain to mountain by canopy!!! It was gorgeous!!! We have decided to only travel by Canopy from now on, I wish! So the whole canopy "ride" was like an hour! Then we hitched another ride to town (by truck, not canopy damnit). We wanted to go out
that night but we were all soooooooooooo tired from the night before so we just got pizza and stayed in (minus party girl Emily). Shes a trooper!! haha...
So the next morning we were energized for the day... Emily went rapelling with some other friends cuz she had already seen the Waterfalls, but me and Darren were on our way up there... So from Johannas Butterfly farm its like a 20 minute walk to the mountain! Then you have to hike up a huge ass steap mountain, including some rock climbing (it took about 45 minutes but kinda felt like 6 hours). Then it was another 45 minute treck to the Waterfalls, and we had to cross a huge effin valey on a basket-zipline!! Beautiful!!! There are like 5 waterfalls, but when we got to the first one, (where you can swim/chill out in tubes, water slide and rapel then jump off the waterfall) ... so yeah we kinda stayed there the entire time cuz we loved it SO much!!!! (I also ran out of stupid batteries, cuz I was taking pictures of absolutetly everything, so I dont have any pictures of the Waterfall funness but I will definetly
return so dont worry). So when it was finally time to go back (sad moment in time) we hurried back to the Butterfly farm to get our stuff and head back to town cuz we were late for our bus that was leaving at 5h .... god bless whoever invented downhill!!! haha Loves it! Went by so much faster!!!
So... In conclusion, BEST weekend ever and also I kinda want to marry Johannas entire familly! Ok, done!!! (Next bloggy will probably be in January cuz were planning a trip from Quito to Banos and then the AMAZON jungle).
