Our first stop from Huang Shan was Shenzen to visit Joes company's factory (Paco International LTD). There wet up with the company's senior staff for lunch and a tour of the facilities where they make handbags under the names Koltov and Sag Harbour. Then the entire group of 9 of us boarded the jet ferry for the one hour ride to Hong Kong. We enjoyed an incredibly tasty Vietnamese dinner before hitting the sack.

On Saturday, we were treated to an 8 hour boat ride (departing for Sai Kong) to enjoy fishing, swimming and the scenery around Hong Kong. Upon leaving the harbour, we caugh the first race of the Dragon Boat Races which is very popular here. During lunch on a small island, a helicopter crashed 250 yards from us. Within 15 minutes, two huge Coast Guard helicopters, a rescue plane and numerous police cruiser boats descended upon the area. It was the leading story on the news that night.

Being saturday night, I coaxed Joe to go out and hit a few bars with me in the wild area of Lan Kwai Fong. Imagine lots of bars and people drinking in the streets as music is heard everywhere. Lots of tourists and expats frequent the area. I partied a bit to hard and had a hangover on Sunday.

With joe gone (he flew home early sunday morning), I checked out of our 5 star hotel into my cheapie room which was on the 8th floor and was a personal apt which they turned into a hotel. Spent the day with an expat who showed me around and even found a place to have eggs benedict but with salmon instead of ham. Yummy comfort food for the weary hungover traveler! for relaxation on Sunday night, i caught the new Star Wars movie (pretty good!). Good Yoda fighting, eh Dave Z?

On monday, i was able to get my chores done (get China visa, buy books, do laundry, do internet and do some sightseeing). After 6.5 weeks away, my first real problem occured as my camera screen quit on me. But, luckily I am in hong kong, so after some intense searching, I found a store with my camera and bought a new one.

back to mainland china on tuesday (turbo ferry boat to Shenzen and then flight to Guilin).

Hope all is good back

On our way out of the harbor, the Dragon Boat races begin. it is a very popular event where teams of 7-8 people paddle in a canoe type boat with dragon heads on front and back. It is a big party scene on the pier as people sit in the sun and drink and route on their friends.
home....

i love getting emails from all of you! Especially those from people who are interested in meeting up with me!

Fishing boats pull up alongside the pier in Sai Kong and sell their goods. They are not allowed on the pier so they collect money via long nets and then do the same to give customers they fish/shrimp/lobster/etc. pick.
