Steve enjoying a quality coffee
Prob the best coffee to date! and i've had a few. ;) Cheezy wedges weren't bad either! We arrived at Singapore at 8pm and stepped off the coach to be instantly melted by the humidity. As we had no clue where we were, are instant plan was to get some info and acquire some cash. I went off in search of this. In the end we got a cab to a hotel in the Little India area and although it was not that cheap or nice for that matter, it made do at 99 SGD a night. Dumped our bags and went to explore. We walked for a while what looked to be towards the city centre but could not find a decent place to have a good meal, as we could only find places specialising in fish head curry. We still can’t understand why anyone would want fish head curry. So we got a cab to the river front area. This area was wicked and was full of fellow travellers and tourists. We strolled along the front in search of good food, and after kindly declining many of the decent variety’s on offer I decided I fancied a Indian curry. So we purposely found one that would cook me a Chicken Sashlik as well as finding something
Do you want fries with that!
Jo getting in some practice for her new chosen career in Mcdonalds drive thru! Jo would be happy with. We managed to blag a couple free drinks out of them and after the meal we found a bar where they were giving away free bubbly to the ladies, so Jo insisted that we drink there. Jo got very happy very quickly and didn’t even pay for a single drink all night! Jo persuaded me to get a bicycle taxi back to our hotel. This was a normal racer style bike with a sidecar welded on with built in stereo, speakers and neon lights. I felt like a bit of a plum as everyone was looking at us on the streets whilst some real cheesy love songs were blaring out of this mobile disco. Jo seemed to like it but I felt real sorry for the poor guy peddling his heart out as we didn’t seem to be moving very fast if any distance at all at some stages. I was considering offering to take over to give him a break, but then I thought again as I realised that if he was struggling and this was his job, then I would surely die within the first minute. Got up early the next day planning to do all the touristy stuff but instead spent all day shopping for a laptop. Just as well as the weather was pants and it rained real hard in parts. We were well pleased with the laptop though as we got a good spec at a good price and even got them to throw in loads of extra free stuff. As part of the deal we got a free 100 SG$ voucher to spend in selected stores. So we went off to the other side of the city to spend our free money and we ended up sensibly buying work clothes in preparation for Oz. Jo’s idea! Spent the eve setting up the laptop as weather was still pants and I spotted something large and black running around our room moving very quickly. After 10mins of us both standing on the bed we called reception. This old guy appeared with a big plank but we could not find what we assumed was a rat. After spending the night with our furry friend we checked out and headed to the airport for a flight to Oz. We had been told that Singapore was one of the best airports in the world and we have to agree. Arrived 7 hours before our flight, and went to check in early which proved to be a good move as my passport did not match my Oz visa. Bl**dy typical especially as we had spent a great deal of effort sorting this out before we left. Airport guys telext the Oz visa department and it was all resolved in 20mins. Phew! 😱
Airport was cool as there was loads of little areas to watch TV and loads of shops for Jo. It even had a swim pool and sleep areas but we were too busy shopping. Had free internet terminals so we power browsed for a bit. Eventually got our flight and had good seats due to checking in so early. I got pissed on free whisky and wine and passed out for 5 hours. Jo played her newly purchased Oblivion game on the newly purchased laptop. Flight flew by for me and awoke to be approaching Sydney. We couldn’t wait to see Raymondo and check out the place.
