Peeling the world
Its an appetizing planet, here¨s to hoping we can keep it that way. I know its been ages since I've posted. I'm trying to sift through my journal entries regarding my travels through the Balkan States and Ukraine. They'll be up soon, but in the meantime this is, I feel, a relevant poem for this site.
'Transport'
by Chris Coleman
The pushing ahead to somewhere other
case of motion
The peace of seeing the unknown casually
“oh, ok, I see.”
self, nothing but black ink in a line
The distance between point a and b
Somewhere between 5mm and 500km.
The line on a map and the line of a train
Are not so different
Kinetic is down the road to inevitability
Halting is calm reality
Realizing your time place space name
Stopping is to pick a daisy
Beside the busiest highway
Going is a thing we call creation
Halting is calm reality
Realizing your time space place name
Stopping to pick a daisy
Beside the busiest highway
So I took that daisy
Picked it between trembling fingers
Somehow, in the median, lubricating
East from west like an eddy
Held it, smelled it, blessed this defeated land
And had picnic in the artificial breeze
