Wow! Suvarnabhumi Airport is impressive! Newly opened, it was particularly shiny and clean. There was quite a trek from the landing gate to immigration, thankfully, moving walkways helped the journey somewhat.

After picking up my rucksack from the conveyor belt I raced out to find a hyperactive Thai lady jumping up and down calling out my name and waving a card in my face, again with my name on it. That made her easy to spot amongst a huge crowd of static people, simply holding name-cards.

I realised soon after that she was running about because my flight had been delayed and had therefore been waiting for me for some time!. . . with another woman who was sharing a taxi with me to the hotel and had arrived over an hour previously.

It was 6pm, local time, middle of rush hour and dark outside. It felt weird being so warm, early and dark. I'm only used to hour long summer days, not Thailands short, winter days. . .still hotter than an English summer!

I was pretty tired after the flight, so went for dinner near the hotel, had a brief look around the local area and got an early night.
