No photos today just a post. We were supposed to be riding a jet boat today down Hell's Canyon on the Snake River to the Dam but as fate would have it, we spent the day at a Chevy Dealership in Grangeville, ID. Kevin's brand new 2021 Chevy Silverado High Country was making a loud clicking noise and thud sound then missing. We drove to Grangeville from Riggins this morning praying that we would get there safely. There was no cell service on that stretch of road. We got to the small town of Grangeville at 8:00 am and the folks at Gortsema Chevy bend over backwards for us today. The mechanic said that the lifter was collapsed which meant there would be intensive engine work needed. All the parts that they need to complete the job would not be there until next week. Well doesn't that just throw a wrench into the fire! We have reservations at Mt. Rainer, Mt St Helens and Olympic National Park before I start my bike ride with Barry and Phil on 5/16. Gortsema Chevy had a Malibu to loan us but that was their biggest car. The lady at the service desk took a great deal of time and called all over for places with Yukons or Suburbans for rent. We have all my bike equipment, Kevin's fishing gear, food and all our clothes for a 6 week trip. It was not going to fit into a Malibu. Finally she found a Yukon XL in Lewiston which was 1 1/2 hours from Grangeville. We tried to contact Chevy to make sure that would reimburse us as our truck only has 5000 miles on it and most all those miles from this trip. They pretty much gave us the run around but it has been escalated to management. We drove the Malibu to Lewiston Airport picked up the Yukon XL drove the Yukon and Malibu back to Grangeville. We dropped off the Malibu and loaded as much of our gear as possible into the Yukon and headed back to Lewiston for the night since it is on the way to Mt. Rainer. Once I start the bike ride we will have a "rest" day in Priest River, ID which is almost in Canada. We will take that rest day and drive the Yukon to Grangeville pick up the truck then drive to Lewiston to drop off the Yukon then drive back to Priest River. It will be about a 10 hour day of driving on the rest day....I would like to say that those folks at Gortsema Chevy were the best. We bought them pizza's for lunch. We will be letting Chevy know how great customer service was at Gortsema Chevy. Glad we are in Lewiston and on our way to Mt Rainer. Thank God for our safe travels.
