Last night in Stanley it was 22 degrees and we decided to get our telescope out as it was very clear. There were a billion stars it was truly beautiful. While looking up at the sky we saw numerous satellites and shooting stars but then…there were 10 big bright lights going across the sky in a linear fashion. Then just like that they disappeared. We both watched it cross the sky thinking we were seeing a UFO…call Project Blue Book! I looked it up on the internet and apparently these are satellites that were launched by Elon Musk and they are about 60 X closer to the earth than most other satellites. So mystery solved…so they say…We left Stanley this morning and it was sad to leave our beautiful views and outstanding cabin but we have other adventures to make and explore. We stopped by Stanley Lake on the way out of town and it is a gorgeous alpine lake. This morning the reflection of the Sawtooth mountains in the lake were incredible. Stanley Lake sits at an elevation of 6,513 feet. There were only a handful of people there so it was quiet and peaceful. Kevin tried fishing the lake but did not have much luck. We ventured on through a summit on the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway called the Banner Pass at 7,037 feet. There was still quite a bit of snow at that elevation. The Ponderosa Pines were lining the byway and stood tall and majestic with the mountains as backdrop. It was a memorable sight. We started up the Salmon River Scenic Byway making our way to our next stop in Riggins, Idaho. We stopped several times so that Kevin could fish. When we reached our VRBO we were so pleased. It sits right next to the Little Salmon River and has a very nice sandy beach. There is a bridge about 500 feet from our cute little house that is called Time Zone Bridge. One side of the bridge is Mountain Time and the other is Pacific Time and both in Idaho. We are now at 1800 feet rather than 6200 feet in Stanley and it makes getting around a little easier. The weather is also warmer than Stanley…so far. I love that we can still hear the constant rushing water of the Salmon River…sweet dreams…
