Hello again, im still in Sydney, have been for exactly 2 weeks now and i wont be here for much longer, but more on that later.
I think Ross left on Saturday, but i can't be 100% sure of that because i'd lost track of what day is untill today, but anyway the day he left i eventually woke up and checked my self out of the Wake Up hostel and headed on over to the hostel i'd found the day before which was considerably cheaper and just as good in my opinion, this hostel was called the 'Big Hostel' although to be fair it was a fairly medium sized hostel, i dumped my bag and got chatting to this lovely - yet sadly ugly girl in the room and i went along with her to Paddy's Market which i thought i'd already explored with Ross, i do recall now wondering why they'd named a shopping centre Paddy's Market and it's because they hadn't, turns out the market is located beneath the shopping centre every Friday to Sunday... i think, to cut along story short it wasn't very good but we managed to waste about 2 hours there. That afternoon
Blue Mountains
So called because of the blue haze. i wandered down to enquire about the bridge climb (never did di that), saw pictures of all the famous people who have done it and then got well and truly lost around the harbour, but whilst lost i did notice that the harbour is teeming with Jelly Fish! Managed to find my way back to the known world after a while and ended up at a bar/club called The Gaff which had free beer between 9 and 10 that evening, had a decent night despite not really knowing anyone.
The next day was a nice lazy one and therefore a cheap day to!
On Monday i'd booked my self onto a day tour of the Blue Mountains, Ross had wanted to do this but i wasn't exactly convinced it was going to be worth $85 at the time, in the end it was well worth it, we left Sydney at about 7.45am and headed out to see some wild Kangaroo's who didn't seem to mind 22 idiots crowding round taking pictures although all i got was a picture of the back of them because they hopped of as soon as i tried to move round to the front, bastards.
The Spider
This one is for Graham, i knew you'd like it even more than me! After that we headed off to a small town for refreshments, then it was off to do abit of a hike which had some amazing views (one of the girls didn't wana do the hike as it was in the bush with snakes and things, the whole goddam day was in the bush, why would you pay $85 if you knew you were scared to do it!?), then lunch after which i wandered off for a pee and was going to wash my hands when i noticed a huge sodding spider looming above the sink... i mean only slightly smaller than my hand and thats not small, so i didn't wash my hands and on the way out i spotted another right above the doorway waiting to pounce, so i took a quick photo on maximum zoom (3x - knew i should have got better) and made a hasty retreat. (Also i noticed about 5 funnel webs in there). Then we drove off to the the 'Three Sisters' which is basically 3 huge rocks in a line but more nice views, then it was off to the worlds steepest railway which has about a 51% gradiant, we had to hike
Komodo Dragon
Didn't really do anything. to the bottom (and got lost) and catch it back up, you had to sit facing down and it was indeed mighty steep, that was the end of that but it was a quality group of people and i really enjoyed it, although didn't see a single snake in the end!
On Tuesday i went to the Zoo, its called Taronga zoo and this actually is on the other side of the harbour unlike the Aquarium, i got 20% off admition by showing my VIP card and had a decent afternoon there even though it was mega hot, alot of the animals looked a tad warm too, i felt especially sorry for the Snow Leapords as im sure they are named that for a very good reason. Got some decent pictures there though. Went back to The Gaff for more free booze that night.
Wednesday i woke feeling fine, had breakfast followed by a nap aftrewhich i woke up feeling really hungover which was odd, i gave it a few hours and decided that another nap may undo the last nap's work - and it did, so after spending most of the day asleep i decided to do
Who ate all the pies?
Didn't realise a seal could be so big! something active in the evening which i decided would be a 10 minute walk to the cinema where i'd sit on my ass for an hour and halk watching Jackass 2 which was really good.
Today is Thursday (another lovely warm day) and ive spent most of it sorting out my escape from Sydney tomorrow morning aboard the 7.15am train bound for Coffs Harbour, my cunning plan is to give Melbourne time to heat up, i think its only been about 20 degrees or less lately and Sydney about 27 or more, so i bought a Citylink 'Backtracker' rail pass (Ross actually spotted this, thanks) which for $240 gives you 2 weeks unlimited travel anywhere between Brisbane and Melbourne. So im planning on going to Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay before heading back down to Melbourne via some as yet to be decided places.
Oh yeah, i also booked a ticket to go see the Australian open tennis on January the 11th, let us all pray Ms Sharapova is playing that day. Twas only about 30 quid.
So it's goodbye from Sydney for now!
