Saturday 22nd February

Nearing the end of our holiday 😞

Only a couple more days before we are back home but for now we continue to enjoy all that this hotel offers.

We never tire of the beautiful lagoon view wherever we are within the hotel.

Our room on ground level overlooks the water sports centre with plenty of action throughout the day, and on a neighbouring beach we watch & hear the sound of a micro-lite set off from the water, it soars high over the beautiful lagoon and beyond. It appears to have just a rubber dinghy as it’s seating area and looks a bit scarier than the one I took flight in a couple of years back.

Breakfast - The Indigo buffet restaurant is where we enjoy breakfast, we always try to sit looking out over the swimming pool and the lagoon beyond. It sets us up for the day!

Plenty of fresh fruits, cold & hot dishes are on offer. The first few days I was disappointed not to find any yogurt to go with my fresh pineapple, I eventually found a tall glass fronted refrigerator tucked a little out of the way containing natural yogurt, so I’m glad I found it.

Eggs can be cooked in a variety of ways, we’ve tried them hard boiled, scrambled and omelettes. All freshly cooked by the chef.

With all the technology in the world we are still amazed to find hotel toasters that take forever for the slices to pop out and still need to go back under a few times before being ‘done’. Mauritius is no different.

We spend our days either on the beach, the grassy areas or in the wicker cocoon, all options give shade at some point which is a welcome relief under the hot sun, and of course all have the backdrop of that beautiful lagoon.

Our smiling beach boy brought fresh fruit kebabs yesterday, I’m not keen on water melon so shared it with my new friend the Red Whiskered Bulbul.

We tend not to go to restaurant every day for lunch, choosing to eat fruit and cheesy crisp snack from the room which is more than sufficient. The mini bar in the room also gets replenished each day so cold drinks go down well in the heat.

Yesterday afternoon I visited the spa to have a massage, not something I usually do but it was a treat, it was so relaxing - I don’t think I fell asleep !

The girl used essential oils for the massage which lasted 60 minutes and was from my toes right up to my scalp. You are supposed to feel stress free after it but to be honest I wasn’t stressed before I had it.

I got a little bit sunburnt on my arms the first day and the girl in the spa recommended a body scrub to remove any flaking skin, so I‘ve booked for tomorrow, you never know after the 30 minute treatment I could come home a size 10 haha.

In the evenings we enjoy dinner in the Italian restaurant, we seem to have our own special table now overlooking the sea (although it’s dark by the time we eat). The menu is quite extensive and beautifully presented, all part of the all inclusive package but you can order some dishes at an extra cost and that’s just what we did last night, both enjoying the delicious grilled prawns.

We enjoy a coffee or a drink sitting outside and some evenings there is a show put on around the fountain area or the beach bar of local folk dancers & last night it was the Sega dancers who entertained us.

We’ve met people from different parts of the world and enjoy exchanging holiday stories together, especially a lovely couple from South Africa who we met on the glass bottom boat.

As you can tell I’m running out of words but don’t fret there’s one more day to go before the end of this blog.
