Darlings, Sweeties.....

First of all, before we start todays blog entry, let us start by first of all apologising to all 'proper' backpackers out there, for what we are about to write goes against all you stand for...

Today we had lunch at The Ritz, Singapore - but we were forced to - honestly!

It was recommended to us by Laura and her friend's in Penang (you will remember Laura, she was the last drunk escapade back in Penang over a week ago) and basically sold it to us (ok sold it to Clare) by the free flowing Moet Champagne and food to die for!

It was the most amazing place (Nicky you would have loved it) we walked up to the door and we were welcomed by 4 different individuals all saying 'Good afternoon' to then be lead to our table and the Champagne started from there. I think they thought we were there to rob the cuttlery.

We started with the fish area, now when we say fish we mean everything from Sushi to oysters to lobster tails to mussels... we got proper stuck in! Clare was even educated in the differing geographic varieties of Oysters and now knows her favourite is New Zealands finest.

Our next course was a variety of mains - mainly Indian and Malaysian curry, fish dish and noodle derivatives.

Sweets followed, and included a multitude of mini deserts in small shot like glasses. Clare made repeated journeys to this section of the restaurant - in between times her Champagne glass was continuously refilled and therefore each time she returned to the table her glass had magically returned to "normal."

After a thorough ransacking of the desert section and subsequent cheese course (with the largest selection of cheeses known to man or mouse) we waddled back through town to the hostel for a well earned sleep (I had to put up with Clare giggling and swaying for the best part of half an hour - I can't believe we couldn't find any man servants to carry us). Backpacking is truly knackering ladies and gentlemen (yes yes how your heart bleeds).

Tonight we have taken it easy, you can't overdo these things and therefore after our snack at lunch we just decided to have a couple of drinks in RAFFLES!!!!!!!! Something about Slinging Singapores, and then the New Asia Bar - which is on the 71st floor of one of the main city skyscrapers and has a fabulous view of Singapore.

Once again we had to walk. Can't believe the lack of manners in this place. Why can't they send a horse drawn carriage for us.

It was a disgrace that all we could find to eat back at the hostel was toast tonight. We might waste away if we aren't careful. Suppose we should do some more sightseeing tomorrow really,

Ciao,
