Welcome sign for Snowtown .. even has the Wind Farm on it
It's holiday time again and we're off to see more of Australia. We start our adventure by flying to Adelaide where we picked up a tank. (Compared to my little Getz the Mitsubishi ASX feels like I'm driving a tank) I hardly recognised Adelaide airport, its been a few years since I've travelled to Adelaide for the cricket.

After making a quick stop at Costco for supplies we headed off for Quorn. Quorn is located 335 kms north of Adelaide and is 293 meters above the sea level at the southern end of the Flinders Ranges and will be our home for 3 nights. The drive up was very picturesque. Coming across the biggest wind farm we'd seen in Australia. We detoured into the township of Snowtown, we didn't see the infamous bank but spotted our first painted water tower. The water tower was covered with local volunteers and looked amazing.

Quorn is home to the Pichi Richi Railway and we were booked on the Pichi Richi Explorer for a trip up to Woolshed Flat's and back via the Pichi Richi pass in the Flinders Ranges. It takes 15 mins to drive to Woolshed Flats the train takes 45

mins. We lucked out with beautiful weather and we both enjoyed the trip.

After our train trip we ventured into Port Augusta for a look around town. We were recommended the Wadlata Outback Centre as a place to check out. Unfortunately we only had on hour to look around and didn't do the place justice but what we did see was great. As we were taking a walk along the pier we were treated to a lovely surprise with two dolphins playing in the water.

To continue the train buff theme, mum and I headed to Peterborough yesterday to look at all things steam train related. Driving the back roads to Peterborough we were amazed at the colours of the landscape. Welcoming us into town was a sign that included a miniature sculpture of steam locomotive. There are four of them on the main roads into town ( yes I found them all) a local blacksmith and craftsman created them.

As we were doing the Steamtown tour the Indian Pacific was due to pass through Peterborough and as part of the tour we were able to watch it go by. It was heading back to Sydney and

looked full. Steamtown has a 23 bay Roundhouse complex that housed a variety of stock for m their triple gauge history.

We also did the light and sound show sitting in a period carriage on the turntable surrounded by the locomotives and diesel engines as we watched Peterborough's history on a cinema screen
