Today being my last day of touring I freelanced a little bit. Although I had a few places to visit, I did not know what I would do when there. I basically visited a few coastal communities around Wilsons Promontory National Park. First up was Waratah Bay where I visited some of the local beaches. It was relatively cool, around 15, so the beaches were empty. Next up I visited the community of Sandy Point and of course another empty beach. I visited Walkerville South and parked at a car park and hiked down the path to the beach. A busier beach with many surfers and a more fun beach as there were lots of rocks to scramble around. Being low tide one could check out what's around the corner. At that location there is the Bird Rock, a series of sandstone rocks, sea stacks and reefs which was fun to walk around. I also stumbled on a cave in the area which had a large opening and was quite big. Having seen Walkerville South Beach , how could I not see Walkerville North Beach? This beach was much rockier and not really a good swimming beach. I picked up some seashells for the grandkids and my stay was short. In the vicinity was also Cape Liptrap Lighthouse. I started down the 8 km gravel road and quickly decided against going all the way. It was one of those gravel roads that had these natural "rumble strips" so the vehicle was bouncing around considerably. The only way to avoid them was 5 km an hour and I decided not to. So I called it a day and returned to Fish Creek by 3 PM.

Today was basically my last day of roaming around. During my trip, I probably completed about 95% of my planned visits (and of course many, many unscheduled ones). Tomorrow, I will try and drive directly back to Melbourne (170 km, 2 hrs). Knowing me I will find some lookout or beach I will want to see up close but hopefully not many. I will return the rental, spend the night in Melbourne, and on Thurs at 1030 PM fly back to Canada. This will be my last post until my next trip, wherever, whenever.
