Well after finally getting out of nepal after being stuck in kathmandu for 8 days which was 7 days to many we arrived in bangkok, that is not to say that nepal is a bad country just not much to do in kathmandu. anyhow we had a few days to kill whilst we waited for our vietnamese visas to be processed so we headed off to nearby kanchanaburi to see some sights.

We hired push bikes for the afternoon after arriving in Kanchanaburi and went to visit the war museum and learn a bit more about what happened in this area during World War 2, there were some amazing pictures showing just how harsh the conditions were that they had to endure whilst building the thai-burma railway. Kanchanaburi is the home to the famous Bridge on the River Kwai which was a focal point of air raids in order to destroy the track. It is also the place where the famous australian war hero Sir Weary Dunlop spent some of his time during the war as a doctor, it seems he was a bit of a hero around the place with his medical feats and ability to keep the troops' moral high.

The next day we jumped on a motorbike and rode 60kms to the nearby Erawan Waterfalls which turned out to be not so spectacular other than the turqouise coloured water and ridiculously expensive entrance fee. so after spending an hour or so there we headed to the Tiger temple where as you can see in the photos you are able to go and touch the 10-12 tigers that have been rehabilitated by the local monks in this monestry, it was quite an experience and one that is well worth the 3hr trip from bangkok. i am not sure that there is anywhere else in the world where you can sit and play with tigers that are so tame that they don't even have restraints on all the time!!!
