Saturday's walk

Went out for a walk on a cool and overcast day. Here are some pics of the houses, etc along the river. There are several older homes (some that have been totally renovated), a few brand new homes and some homes made from churches. Enjoy!

I have to mention that we have encountered a few locals in the grocery stores and Walmart and, so far, they are absolutely wonderful people. As pleasant a group of people I've ever met! Coming from a place where people would just as soon run you over than say excuse me, these people are a welcome change.

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Middle LaHave is no longer a church. In 2005, it became a victim of declining membership and proximity to four other Lutheran churches. The renamed St. Mark’s Place is now a community space, hosting every-thing from a Cuban band to economic development meetings, yoga classes and weddings. A man named James Lindner renovated the old church. Lindner made his money creating the world’s first film and video digitizing technology, which is now preserving video and audio tapes around the globe. Time magazine did a feature on him, touting him as a game changer. But in Middle LaHave, he’s better known for preserving the old church on the corner, the restoration of which provided the inspiration for his newest business, which Lindner said is the first true innovation in liquor in 500 years — Restoration Spirits. :-)

This renovated house has a "U-pick" garden and was currently touting their Haskap berries. They are said to be a super-fruit, providing more antioxidants than a typical blueberry. We may have to stop in and pick a few. :-)

This church is, as was St Mark's, no longer a church. However, this one appears to be a single family home. There is a sign on the side of the building indicating it to be the oldest church along the LaHave River. It was founded in 1836 and deconsecrated in 2016.

Saturday Walk
LOL - I guess you did go for a walk. I've never heard of an Haskap Berry, I'll have to look that up. Were you walking on the road? Is there a lot of traffic? The wildflowers are beautiful, they would cost if they were purchased are florist here in Florida. I saw the picture Osprey's Nest, and was looking and saying I don't see a nest. LOL until I realized that is what the home was called :-) I'm glad you said what the picture was on the tree I was trying to figure it out, then I scrolled down and you mentioned it was a lighthouse - knowing you like lighthouses your not going to try and take that tone home? Ha ha ha... Your walked looks very peaceful. Hope Jean, the Cats and you are/will have such an awesome time. LOVE, love the pictures, it's the only way I get my vacation (LOL).

Walk
Yes, we were walking on the road, but there is not much traffic, especially on the weekend.
