Hello all,

Yes, we have been here a whole month and most of you have no idea what is going on with us... Our apologies. Frankly, I dont really believe that this blog will work out and that any of you will actually read this entry. Internet is paltry (my word of the day - incidentally) and when we have it, it is not reliable. So, believe me that I have written paragraphs and paragraphs already only to be thwarted by the crash of technology either of my computer/battery or of the electricity here.

Dar es Salaam is in the midst of a power crises. This is the worst they have seen so we are told. There is electricity at night - starting between 5 pm and 7 pm and stays on until about 6 or 7 am. Some times on the weekends there is power later into the mornings or actaully for most of the day. We cant count on that though and try to charge all our apparati (lap top and cell phones) while we sleep. We are grateful that we still have power at night. The muggy rainy season makes it almost impossible to sleep at night without a fan.

I am catching up on the news back home and downloading podcasts from NYT and NPR so that I can stay informed on the elections. I am fearful that the bad guys are setting expectations low so that they can encourage their voter turn out and maybe surpress ours... Lots of the good guys might wrongly think we have it in the bag... etc...

Erik is looming and I have promised the computer to the Canadians, so I must go. More to come. I sincerely hope someone gets to read this...

Love and Peace,

Angel

Hey guys, I totally understand. I was pretty crappy at keeping my 'readers at home' informed when I was in Ghana and we didn't even have any electricity problems there... and the pics take hours to upload... I ended up downloading an image re-sizer so you can make all your pics small and quicker to upload on to the net. But I have to admitt, it is nice to read up on what and how you guys are doing, even if it is at random. Look forward to hearing more news!! Hope you guys are well and enjoying hte lovely Africa! Love Naomi
