Well after the long bus ride to get here it was a very relaxing place, just like the rest of laos. We didnt do to much here other than soak up the culture. It was more of a place to see how the locals live.

We did go to see a few more caves and a whisky village. At the whisky village they showed us how it was made from rice and we could sample all the different kinds. There was also some gross ones with cockroaches, scorpions and snakes. We stayed away from those ones. yucky! We also went to the most beautiful water fall i have ever seen. You could keep walking and walking up farther and u would never reach the top. The swimming areas of the waterfall were again turqoise blue. SO nice! While we were at this waterfall we also saw a tiger in a conservation center and a bunch of black bears and an elephant. Laos was crazy though all the wildlife we saw were in cages. We didnt even see any birds! Very different than costa rica where the wildlife was everywhere. We have met alot of people since we arrived in Laos

and have been travelling with them for the last 2 weeks. Its not unusual to be sitting with people from every side of the world. Very interesting to talk to people about there own countries as well as soak up the asian culture.

After Luang Prabang we travelled for 3 days straight! It wasnt too fun(although still more fun than work). The first 2 days we were on a boat along the mekong river for 9 hours each day. We were going from Luang Prabang, Laos to the thailand border. It wasnt a nice comfortable boat. It was a third world boat! When it decided to stop it would shut off its engine and drift by the current of the river into a bank. it was quite scary at times. All this boat had was wooden bench seats. We were lucky there was not many ppl on the boat so we all slept all over the floor trying to get comfortable..we didnt succeed to well. Thank god that is over with. After we arrived at the thailand border the boat was late so the border ending up being closed. So we had to stay in a town that had

next to nothing. The next morning we woke up and got on a 7 hour bus ride to Chiang Mai. After all that travelling Chiang Mai is definatly worth the trip. Right now there is a huge festival here to mark the end of the rain fall season. Over 1 million people have arrived here for the festival and the population is only 160,000. There are fireworks going off everywhere, stages set up, music, parties, costumes, and miniture hot air balloons that are lit in the city to fly above. There is candlelight burning all over the sky. Well not to much more to update have only been in chiang mai 1 day. Take care everyone!
