The National Park has an awesome shuttle service ?You can ride it and hop on/off along the entire South Rim of the Canyon and it’s free ?There is a train ? depot, market, lodges, shops, trails, and wildlife all accessible from the Campground, and of course, amazing views ?

We hiked ~7 miles of the Trail of Time ??‍???‍? Check this out...

1 meter = 1 million years

4560 long steps to walk the entire trail

Earth’s age 4560 million years

Earth ? and solar system formed from a spinning nebular cloud ☁️ of dust and rock

Kathy and I almost decided not to check out the South Rim since we had seen the North Rim a few years ago...so glad we did! The views are simply amazing and never ending. The expanse of this natural wonder is stunning. I read a book a few years ago about all the known deaths in the Grand Canyon and the Powell expedition, so it was especially cool ? for me. If you have yet to see the Grand Canyon in person you simply must...it is like being in a painting. It seems unreal.

We came back to the camp site for an early dinner so we could head back out for the sunset ? The sunset views were spectacular! We took tons of photos...hopefully a few worth keeping and maybe even framing. Watching the colors change in the Canyon from an hour before sunset until sunset is truly amazing ?

Kathy made us a ? and toasted marshmallows for S’mores ?According to Google, the first published recipe ‘some mores’ was in a 1927 publication called Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. Loretta Scott Crew, who made them for the Girl Scouts by the campfire, is given credit for the recipe. I never was a Girl Scout...got kicked out of Brownies and, ironically, Kathy thinks she did too ???‍????‍?

After an awesome night of sleep ? and a yummy ? breakfast bowl of mushroom, spinach, kale, hot pepper creamy grits and an egg over easy, compliments of Chef ?‍? Kathy, we headed to Lake Powell AZ.

As many of you know, Kathy loves to cook and is a great cook. Every meal she has made from scratch on our new portable Coleman grill. I am so lucky ?? Thank you Lori, Kathy’s mom, for passing on your love and cooking skills ?

This is how we have been rolling on this journey, which has happened as organically as our stops...

Kathy has been doing all of the driving ‘cause she needs to stay occupied. I navigate and keep us on the right path ?

Kathy plans and cooks all our meals and ensures we stay hydrated, including an occasional cocktail ????and dictates the blog while driving most days.

Kathy sets up/breaks down the tent and I help when she asks...then I create Spa Haven - bedding, sleeping bags, Wendy if needed, Little Eddy, etc. while she cooks. I am the wordsmith and add emojis for the blog ????

We really have no set plan other than exploring the Mighty 5 in Utah, our driving force for this trip, and visiting Valerie, Kathy’s sister, in her new home in Los Angeles.

Get ready Val, Kathy said she is going to setup camp ⛺️in front of your house and sell tickets to Snug Haven and make a big pot of chili ?...don’t worry - it will be vegan ? and organic. We’ll get to know your neighbors while you are working ? Actually, I may want to catch a game in the World Series now ⚾️?can you get us some tickets?

We drove 89N crossing over the Colorado River and it seemed like we were in the Canyon and driving through the red rock. Stunning and expansive views. Arrived safely in Page AZ yesterday afternoon and found an awesome camp site ⛺️with views of Lake Powell. Wow, wow, wow...we thought the Grand Canyon was amazing - this place is just as amazing!
