G’day everyone,

Yesterday I told you we had another early start today. I was wrong, it was extremely early. We got up at 4.40am and were on our way to the airport by 5.15am?We reached Hamilton Island at about 10am and were glad to see some sun. However by mid afternoon it had clouded over and we decided to leave the beach. I couldn’t resist a swim in the hotel pool but as it looked like rain I cut short my swim as I didn’t want to get wet. ( only joking?) lol. The hotel is massive and has white cockatoos that come into the rooms if you leave the sliding doors on the balcony open .The island so far looks very beautiful. We think the weather should be better tomorrow.i hope so, it would be good to do a bit of sunbathing and relaxing before setting off again on Weds . After lunch today we strolled back to the hotel to find two wallabys or kangeroos( I can’t tell the difference) sitting on the grass eating. Not what we are used to seeing. Why is everything so expensive in Australia. We didn’t expect it to be as cheap as the USA but it’s so much dearer here than London. Just as well we haven’t got much room for souvenirs,well..... not yet anyway .when we leave New Zealand to go to Hong Kong we are allowed another bit of baggage each. Let’s hope both those places are cheaper and have lovely things to buy.

Hamilton Island
Ohh to be there again! If you get the chance go up to One Tree Hill. Amazing views and a fab bar perched on the hillside. It’s a popular wedding venue and one of my Aussie cousins got married there! Try Mariners or Manta Ray restaurants for dinner - both very good. Enjoy!!!!
