How do you decorate your home to remind you of your travels? What souvenirs do you pick up on trips?
I'm hoping we can all share details of how you can make your home reflect your passion for travelling? I'm away a lot, but would love to make my actual house reflect some of the places I've visited when I come home. So can you guys share the details of any decor tips that you've done or tried to make your home look like a travellers paradise?

Reply to this Maps everywhere! I really like the idea of a huge wall map with pins to mark cities that you've visited. I've also seen maps with scratch-off panels that you can complete for each country you've been to. Depends on the look that you want really - you can stain the maps with tea to give them a sort of vintage, sepia-toned feel if you're going for a more traditional look.
This might be a bit obvious, but are you making the most of your travel pics as well? Choosing a few of your best and have them beautifully framed for a feature wall - or just have fun and make some collage-type boards of all your favourite memories.
Reply to this I always buy a lot of art and artefacts as I go - so a wooden mask from Africa, carved incense burners from morocco, wall hangings from India and these make up a big part of my decor. I can't say there is a theme other than very eclectic, and each item i have reminds me of a different adventure. I think it's nice to be inspired by the local art and custom of countries you've visited.
Christian mentioned maps - this is something I definitley want to add to my house as well (or maybe a globe would be cool?). I like the idea of the retro, stained ones like the one Ive seen here <snip>

Reply to this I collect hats! I have a huge Mexican sombrero, a beautiful Aussie Akubra hat, and of course many handmade straw hats I picked up all over Asia. My favorites are the ones I got from people who were actually wearing them when i met them, and we either bartered or I gave them money for it: in any case, great memories!
