Aha - I've just discovered another song with the Isle of Man in its title, although here it's called Ellan Vannin, which is its name in Manx, the Celtic language of the island. The good news is that it's sung by more recent musicians than dear old George - the BeeGees! The bad news is that, although Robin Gibb's voice is remarkable, the song's a bit of a dirge!

Small girl dreaming of the big world. Very common in Germany and in other places. For me my Berlin was like the Chicago for that girl. Still I dream of the freedom and space in the US but I have no greencard and don't want to fly by planes at the moment but I guess that will change some day.

Another song like this is "Sending Picture Postcards from L.A." which I heard very often before moving from my small bavarian town to Berlin and fulfilling that dream. Reply to this
