...and here's one for those who are even older than me (and, before you ask, no - I wasn't even a twinkle in my mum and dad's eyes when this was released!):

'Cadiz' - the oldest continuously inhabited city in Spain - played by the late Julian Bream
This isn't a 'song' but a brilliant guitar instrumental. Relax for 4 minutes and 14 seconds, listen to the music and enjoy an interesting video of Spanish scenes.

Between the British mainland and Ireland lies a small island of about 570 sq.kms/220 sq.miles, with a population of around 83,000. It's developed as a quiet holiday resort. It's British but not in the European Union (EU). It has its own currency. It's an offshore tax haven. Its symbol is a triskelion of three legs. It's famous for an annual, international motorbike race. And its cats have either a little stubby tail or no tail at all.

It's called the Isle of Man.

Probably the only song that mentions it by name is this one. It's difficult for even us Brits to fully comprehend the words sung by the inimitable George Formby - but I love the line: "Crowds of spinsters over 40 simply dying to be naughty... and they call it the Isle of Man!" .

(I promise I won't inflinct any more of his songs on you!)

Isle of Man - George Formby
