I'd suggest a warm location. I'll continue to look for other festivals but can recommend a few interesting locations.
In no particular order-----
New Orleans, Louisiana
Memphis, Tennessee
Austin, Texas
San Antonio, Texas
Key West, Florida
All of these towns offer good music options, places to hang out, have fun and get to know one another.
Reply to this Well, racing season opens in Lexington, KY in April - so that's always a fun cultural activity. Not that I'm biased or anything 😉 (and it may well indeed be where I am next April anyhow). I would avoid the NW and the NE mainly because the weather is hit/miss. I saw snow the other day in NYC followed by miserable winds. And I imagine that likely eliminates most of Canada as well, unless someone would like to suggest a good place otherwise.
Would need to double-check university spring-break schedules though, as I know some places (Key West, NOLA, places in the TX coast) get very, very crowded and very, very overpriced during certain times in March/April. That said, I really would like an excuse to go to any/all of those places. And Memphis BBQ? My mouth waters.
Although it may be best to have it close to an international airport city-hub. Atlanta, Cincinnatti ... that is if you want to avoid the cliche L.A and NYC.

I agree that Memphis BBQ adds a bit of a temptation!

Who, how and when will the location be decided? It would be great if a decision gets made by January at the latest so we can rally a group to show up.
Just curious.
Reply to this I agree - I was thinking to give it all a nudge again around the 6 month mark.
If there is someone for each continent (within reason) who is happy to step up and organise, that will give us a base to co-ordinate from. First step would probably to decide location, will depend largely on ease of access and participants.

Reply to this Hello everyone,
We are trying to rally support and increase attendance at the San Francisco gathering. As you read blogs in the next few days if you identify any bloggers who will be near SF the first week of April please send me a private message and alert me. I would like to send them an email and see if we can get additional travelers to join us. If you identify any bloggers that live in the area please do the same and help me find them.
Thank you!
Reply to this I had juggled things around a bit and actually found a great airfare from San Antonio to San Francisco but then realized that April 7 is Easter weekend and that is one of the times of year we have a family get together.....so I will have to pass again.
