Traveling through 6 Asian countries with no idea how to backup our photos / videos
My wife and I are spending 1 week in Japan, 2 weeks in S. Korea, 2 weeks in Thailand, 1 week in Cambodia, 2 weeks in Vietnam, and 1 week in Loas. We are bringing a compact digital camera (Olympus Stylus 600 6.0 MP) and a digital video camera (Panasonic SDR-SW20, Flash Media.) We had only decided to take this trip less than a month ago and are having trouble planning where to go and what to do, and most importantly what to do to protect our pictures and videos.
Also, if anyone has been to these countries and has any suggestions on what to do I would greatly appreciate the help.
Sincerely,
K & A
Reply to this When I travel, I always have 2 memory cards. When one fills up I make 2 copies of the CDs and when I accumulate enough I send one home. I always keep them in separate parts of my suitcase. Additionally, I have a google account so I put them on picasaweb. Flickr is another option. Picasa offers more storage space for free. Then when they are online, I often had my brother download them. I also carried an ipod and stored them on there as well. If you don't have an ipod, look into purchasing a small hard drive of like 20 gigs to put your material on. I had some cds that scratched, but fortunately somehow got all my photos in one way or another!
I would spend 2 weeks in Japan and 1 week in S korea, but I am biased bc I lived there. I only went to Seoul in S. Korea so can't tell you too much. If you want ideas on japan my blog is all about it. Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Koya-san, Mt. Fuji...lots of great things. my favorite place in Thailand was Koh Tao. I loved Angkor Wat. My favorite in Vietnam was the north- Sapa/Hanoi/Halong. My favorite thing in Laos was the Gibbon Experience.
Have a great time!
Reply to this Hello KA 😊
I moved this to the photography forum.
There will likely be people looking in this forum that are used to the challanges of backing up their photos.
