Olon beach
On a normal day... Olon is normally a chilled quiet 2k stretch of beach - thank god we're not staying in Montanita, it's like Kuta gone wrong!!
It's apparently run by Israeli 'Mafia' who own most of the bars, and clubs, even control the drugs. So much there was a drive by shooting the other friday at the front of one of their bars.
Olon on the otherhand couldn't be more different, it's only round the hill but hardly a gringo insight, no real restaurants, no bars selling any other than beer and no wanna be rastas selling jewellry!
Carnival in Montanita seemed to be just another saturday night, just busier, and for a change a small police presence.
Here in Olon, Sonya (who owns the house we're staying in) her kids described it as a pueblo party. I think they're from the internationally renowned party town of Guayaquil!
It really is that though, with old school merry go round and ferris wheels. Every house that could seemed to set itself up as a restaurant. The main activity of the carnival seems to be eating - but everywhere sells the same, arroz con carne, pescado or pollo!

Transformation the road from the house kicked on till about 4am, no problem there, but started up again at 10 am this morning, playing continuous mix of all the songs we're heard since Nicaragua, and they like their bass just as much here. Apparently goes on till 10pm tonight - joy.
Carnival has transformed the beach, yesterday a bikini contest, today I swear there are about 10,000 people on there. somebody's making a roaring trade in shade shelters, as they're all identical!
