Bolivia - Salt Flats Tour

Here's some pictures that we took on our way to and on our four day tour in Bolivia. The salt flats were such a strange place. They are vast areas of salt, the remains of ancient inland seas, with little islands dotted about with cacti growing on them. It was so cold when the sun went down!

You can take funny photos on the flats as there is nothing to show the scale of anything so no matter how far away something is, it can look like it's in the foreground, but just small.

We were made to buy these masks before we could get on the train by a soldier with syringes on his arm (instead of ammo). They take the swine flu very seriously over here!

Moral: never take pictures out of the window of a moving train. Ouch! I did well not to drop our new camera!
