We have left Equador now and crossed the border into Peru, it is 8pm on Monday 8th of September and our 3rd night in Peru.
Our last night in Ecuador was fantastic, Manuel, our tour leader has been attempting to teach us Salsa...well basic steps...so for our last night he took us out for dinner and to a salsa bar...this is all in the same evening that we had to get up at 3am to travel from Ecuador to Peru!!!The bar was called Eucalyptus, and it was brilliant, about 4 bottles of Red wine later and cocktails we were all rather merry and dancing our rendition of the Salsa Manuel had been teaching us!!Well we dominated the dancefloor for a while until the locals decided to show us how it was done, when done properly this dance is amazing! It was brilliant, around 1.30am we head back to the hotel, quickly packed had about 1hours sleep and headed back onto the bus into Peru...in my Pyjamas!!We reached the border around 7am, still in my pyjamas and probably drunk we headed into Peru!
Our first two nights in Peru involved some camping by the Beach in a town called Mancora, it is a lively town on the beach, with a hippy feel to it, relaxed but lively, and has some lush beach resorts too, really different to Ecuador, as we drove out of Equador we left the green jungle scenes and drove into what could almost be described as the desert, it is so dry here, totally different landscape almost immediatley entering into a different country. It is a lot more lively in Peru than Ecuador, I think I would come back here!
Camping was exciting (although I have been bitten to death), we were on cooking duty for the first night, and cooked chicken kebabs...I got over my huuuuuuge fear of touching raw chicken and just got on with it, this was hard, but sometimes there is no time to be fussy, I have got over a lot, lol...one of them showering every day and clean toilets, sometimes it is just not possible, dry shampoo and wipes work wonders!!!In a hotel tomorrow night though so this is alll good!!hehe!Mancora was great definitley my favourite place, everyone gets around in Tuk Tuks, there were cars but not many, the roads are like dirt tracks cars would get ruined, but again safety is no issue, they pile three people into this tiny tuk tuk (rickshaw) and then all the drivers mates hop on for the ride!!haha!! We had our last night in Mancora last night and built a fire on the beach, this was so much fun, we sang...what lyrics we could remember of a variety of songs, then Laura and I did our little rendition of Saturday night, by Cindy Lauper for everyones entertainment, after just 1 beer, haha!
We woke up bright and early again this morning to pack up camp ready to leave Mancora to head to Pimentel, another Beach town...this place is odd, it is 8.20pm and the streets are empty, we also pitched up camp on the roof of a hostel above a school football pitch, all very strange, haha!!We are here for just one night then up again early tomorrow to head to Hunachaco where we will possibly do some surfing (I will prob save this for Manly, Australia depending on waves) or just sunbathing to top up the rather weird tan lines...not quite got the hang of rubbing suncream in evenly and have some odd tanned/burnt patches, so keeping covered up I think as I have plenty of time to tan!
Ok for now I think that is all I can update, write back if you think I´ve missed anything out, hehe...great to hear from some of you guys, missing you lots keep reading!! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
