After meeting Will in Ciudad Bolivar (a blog entry that was lost and i cant be bothered repeating) we meet a German girl, Romy, who we took under our collective wings and embraced as the fourth member of our group and better bargaining power when it came to booking trips! We decided not to do the Angel Falls and opted instead for a 6 day trek to and up Roramia. Roramia is a tepus (look it up for more info if ure interested i wont bore you). we managed to get a price we were happy with, unusually will ended up paying nearly 40 euro less because he had euro notes to trade with while me and emma were stuck with very shitty Bolivars (if you ever come to venuzeula, bring a ba of dollars/euros, youll ... read more

Hola a todos y todas ! Yuppy, we are back in a Spanish speaking country, cause we're in Venezuela now. Ok, ok, let's admit it, we've become a bit lazy when it comes to regularly updating this travelblog. ´Your rigourous rhythm is becoming slightly less rigourous´we were told.. It´s just that we are so busy with our exciting adventures, that is a valid excuse, isn´t it ? From now on we´ll do better (hopefully..). Hereafter a concise, ahum... summary of all the stuff we have been doing for the last 3 weeks ! We wrote our last update in Praia da Pipa, close to Natal, where we enjoyed great relaxed beach time and a sea full of grey dolphins. Then onto Jericoacoara, whose beaches are classified amongst the ´worlds 10 most beautiful beaches'. And they were ... read more

The Gran Sabana - 12th to 15th May We're up relatively early feeling very tired after such a long journey the night before. We wouldn't have made the early morning bus but we do manage to catch a taxi from this Brazilian out post to across the border to Venezuela. Its a 3 hour journey and our taxi driver stops at the border to drop off some packages. We're really glad we can be of help seeing as we are paying for this. This time we manage to get the border crossing correct as we are stamped out of Brazil into Venezuela! We're dropped off at our hostel in the next town (Santa Elena de Uairen). For our final leg of the trip we've organised the full 3 weeks with a company called Osprey Expeditions. ... read more

Merry greetings to one and all! Sorry for the gap in communication, would you believe me if I said there hasn´t been time? I think I last left you on the way to Santa Elena to climb Roraima, a tepuis on the Gran Sbana Plain..as seen on TV´s Ray Mears Extreme Survival - I am sure I have told you about it before! One step at a time.. Well Roraima was my big ambition of Venezuela and it also turned out to be the biggest struggle. Number 1, should have known better than to go ´blind´, the group turned out to be 3 Germans and me. 2, I know I don´t like camping, why even pretend this was different. 3, when they say there´s plenty of opportunity to wash, they mean if you like to shower ... read more
