are everywhere in South America We were up early for our transfer - not that we had much choice as the ibis nesting around the farm made far more noise than the cockerel, and driven into town, for a 4 hour bus ride to Montevideo. Doesn't look like a south american city - there are plane trees, and mixture of european architectural styles, (it's small, too). There is, of course lots of drab concrete, but it could be europe 10 years ago - especially with the types of cars on the streets.
We went for a walk through the old town, to mercado del puerto - now full of parilla restaurants; think more than you can eat meat and you are on the right tracks. A walk was very necessary to ease the stomach, so I wandered all over the old town and singularly failed to find any buildings worth investigating! Back to the hotel to meet up with the others, and out for pudding - a tower of ice cream! Then back to a bar in the old town for a drink and live music, where we met some charming Argentines, and then on to another bar with a live tango band - we were

most of this was just for me! just in time for the popular songs at the end of the act, and then a different band came on!
Next morning was another early start, a bus transfer to Colonia. We'd been promised rain so we went out to the old town straight away, and then the clouds broke up! It's a charming little town of cobbled streets, full of argentines on a romantic break! Out for dinner but was absolutely exhausted - most of the crew went on to watch the football (Uruguay Costa Rica) or the casino..

Looking after Bob
Hi Alex, Bob is still alive and I've been giving him the odd squeeze of a teabag and some odd pruning. The test will be this winter when he has to live with little daylight. Sindhu, Syed and Preetham all gave me a present to give to you while I was in HSC. They were very sad that you had left Tesco. Unfortunatlely Josh thought it was Christmas come early so it is slightly unwrapped at one end ;) It's quiet here without you, sounds like you are having a wicked time! Take care Caroline x
