My ako skuseny cestovatelia sme mu neverili a pyramidy sme samozrejme nasli bez problemov.
Today, we dont know for how many times we had to pack and left our bags at recepcion and headed to our todays target - Batan Grande and Pomac forest. BG are 3 pyramides, of course made of mud bricks, and Pomac forest is one of the greatest dry forest in Americas. As a mean of transportation we chose colectivo - its similar to taxi, but its for as many people as you can get in and taxi wont leave till its full. Taxi
driver tries to fit in as many people as possible, so we ended up on the front seat next to him, but we even manage to use safety belt. When we entered a forest a local guide tried to sell his services for extra money arguing that we really needed him, because there were lots of paths and we could get easily lost. We, as expecienced travellers didnt believe him and really - we had no problems to find the pyramides. Pyramides were eroded a lot by rains and wind and slowly disseappearing. Nevertheless you could clearly se they had to look grandiously. Our first pyramide was called Huaca del Oro /the golden pyramide/ which we climbed up on to later realized that its forbidden ... The greatest was Huaca Ventanas where are some excavations going on currently, well to us it looked like bunch of people sleeping under the trees, but thats probably their special way. The last one - Huaca Colorado, its name derived from the colour of the soil which is red because of the fire that people set up when they left this place. The dry forest was really dry, everywhere you looked was sand, it
was very hot and sweaty. We also saw 1000 years old tree, very important to the local comunity who believes in its power. In the evening we picked our staff and went to bus station to catch the bus to Chachapoyas - our next town. When entering we had to show the passports and also make fingerprint, but we were told its normal procedure.
