the food market at the pier Our host mama woke us up for breakfast at 7.30am. We met the rest of our group at the wharf and caught the boat to Taquile Island, where we spent about 3 hours. We hiked around the island to the village where we learnt about the local culture. On this island the boys knit for hours a day, and the girls weave waistbands. There are different coloured hats for whether they are single or married, and all the men wear 'man bags' which they keep their cocoa leaves etc in. We got a demonstration of how they used to use part of a cactus plant to make soap, then had a really good lunch which was cooked for us by the locals. We headed back on the boat to our hotel in Puno after that. We played some poker and Elle came 2nd in her first ever game! We all went out for pizza for dinner at one of the local restaurants.
