Hi all,

We just thought we would send a brief update to let you know we experienced our first earthquake yesterday morning....pretty scary...actually woke us up and the whole house shook. It was then that we realised that we were staying somewhere that does not have an earthquake safe zone (like so many other places around here) typical! Let´s hope there isn´t another one.

Apart from that we have been shopping and pottering around Larco Mar which is a cliff side shopping / restaurant / bar / cinema / pretty much everything complexy place in Miraflores. Which is really cool and over looks the pacific ocean. Have spent quite a bit of cash today. Somehow I keep buying things at Rich´s persuasion, however, he refuses to spend any money himself (how does that work!). But I did get him to buy a rather tasty bottle of wine to go with our sausages and mash that he is cooking for dinner tomorrow night, result!

That´s about all for now - tomorrow we are going into central lima for a bit of a look about and chill in a nice park they have there. Also Rich has found a restaurant run by nuns where we are going to have lunch (unfortunately we will miss the 9.30 nightly singing of Ave Maria). But all profits go to the poor, so we can feel good about gorging ourselves (leaving room for the sausage and mash later, of course).

Well best go as we have some friends coming to our hostel for dinner tonight. Also one of the crew from bolivia, Martha (the kiwi) is now staying there which is cool.

Love to everyone and keep the comments coming, we love hearing from everyone back home.

Ave Maria
I am disappointed you will not be making the effort to see the performance of Ave Maria - Paolo has not stopped singing it since our service! Great to see the blogs - glad you're still loving it. Wish we were with you x

Returned from a week in France last night to receive two new blogs! Earthquake sounded a bit scary and I could do without the spiders but the rest sounds great and I'm feeling more than a little envious. Fantastic photos. We'll have to get you a hammock when you return Rachael. You looked really comfortable! Love Sue xxx

Hello!
Hi guys, Ok so there's been accidents, parasites and now an earthquake?! Glad you are both fine and enjoying the adventuring. The photos from the Amazon are great although I can't say I'm keen on the spider - eek. I managed to catch quinsy (Victorian era throat nastiness rendering me unable to speak - imagine that!) and had to endure short spell in hospital but all well now. Hope the wine n sausages n mash lived up to expectation (along with the nuns' hospitality!) Love Lxx
