Hello Bloggers,
I woke up with a little hangover this morning, WARNING: watch out for those Pisco sours!!! Vick looked after me in the night walking me to the toilet after I apparently tried weeing in the middle of the dorm!!!
We had our free breakfast; it was poor just bread and jam with coffee and tea. We planned with a girl from our dorm and one of the American lads I was drinking with the night before to go to the Lima art museum, which was opposite the hostel. It was ok only 4 soles with a student card and it had a lot of Nazca and Peruvian artifacts but was mostly in Spanish so hard to understand things, still worth going.
We left the other two and got on the number 302 bus to Miraflores. (You can get either the 301-302-303 and will take you there plus its easy to see where you are with signs about, the buses are directly outside the hostel 1900 entrance and is only 1.20 Sole single (25p!!!)
Miraflores was really nice we walked all through the city, the water front is
a long walk down and we watched the Para gliders jumping off the cliffs and the surf was good with loads of surfer out. We found a really nice restaurant for lunch it was tasty and got to practice our Spanish.
As it was getting on we headed back. Let me warn you about the driving in Lima…it is crazy, people just honk there horns and don’t stop at lights cut people up…its just mayhem!!! That’s saying a lot since I’ve have been to China where a car drove the wrong way down the motorway!!! Still the bus got us back in one piece!! (Oh yeah and be ready to stand up as the buses are packed you get friendly with strangers very quickly!!! Watching your pocket here goes without saying).
There was a BBQ in the hostel in the evening however we had our ingredients ready for dinner so cooked pasta again and ate it quickly as we wanted to check out the city at night. We spoke to two of the American girls I had been drinking with the night before and they couldn’t even remember me because they were so wasted
haha!!!
We walked to the magic fountains, its about a 30 min walk from the 1900 hostel and was 4 sole to get in and was a lot of water features with lights and music. It was really good, I got soaked in this water tunnel trying to get Vick wet!!! After we walked to the main high street, this is an hour from the fountains passing our hostel, the main square was really impressive at night and we were both impressed!!!
We headed back about 10pm and wanted a chilled night as we had a 0630 pick up to the bus station in the morning!!! We watched a GOT and then hit the hay.
Love N&V X
