Hola!

We´re finally here in Peru! I guess our trip actually started on Tuesday when we went into London and spent the day with April seeing the sights and not being able to find a Nando´s anywhere! We had a nice stay at the Jury´s Inn hotel at Hatton Cross station so it was very close to Heathrow and we were able to get to and from London for the day.

We woke up yesterday at 5am and got one of the first tubes out to Terminal 4 at 6am before getting on the plane to Houston, Texas which arrived at about 12:40 local time (6:40pm our time) and we got some fast food during our wait at the airport. We got onto our connecting flight to Lima which was nearly an hour late taking off meaning we didn´t get into Lima until about 11pm local time (5am our time!). Luckily we managed to sleep a little on all the flights and the movie selections were great. We met a guy from Alaska who lives near Lima and he told us where to go which was cool. Laura got the aubergine curry for the third time, and amazingly, didn´t like it very much...like the previous two times she´s had it.

We got a taxi from the airport to our hotel for 50 Soles which wasn´t too bad, and cheaper than the airport pickup which was provided by the hotel. The taxi driver was great and we had a good chat all the way. All had gone well and we´d been travelling nonstop for over 24 hours so I didn´t feel we deserved the horrific hotel that we´d got. Hostel bookers had lied once again!! The room is a disgrace and luckily we´re only staying the one night.

We got a great nights sleep and the jet lag worked in our favour. We didn´t wake up until about 9am which is 3pm England time! Shame we awoke in a room similar to a prison cell. We´ve had a good walk around Miraflores this morning and visited the shopping centre recommended by the Alaskan. We´re getting an overnight coach to Arequipa tonight so we´re going to find a supermarket and stock up for the journey. Lima doesn´t have much character to be honest and the culture shock isn´t anywhere close to that of Delhi. Glad we´re only staying the day and really looking forward to seeing Arequipa!

Adios!

I had double maths this morning and all I could think about was Peru and Croatia... tch. Peace out. Roxi

Jesus, what is with you and money?! 50 Soles is just over a tenner so if it was any greater distance than town to Dunnington then you're quids in! Laura - so bloody typical with the Aubergene curry! :P Anyway, stay away from the porcelin ornaments and make sure you get theFALLEN tshirt in the most ironic of places! Have fun, Dom

Sounds good! We have just checked out of our apartment in Bol, which was a bit of a cell too! The floor was bare concrete and there was no glass in the windows! Also every time we used the shower you would need noahs ark to get across the bathroom!! Good old hostel bookers, always there to get you a dodgy hotel! xxxx
