Peru - There and Back Again

Tuesday 14th July 2009

After a very comfortable night in the Hotel Santa Cruz, it's time for a bit of exploring of Lima and all the sights and sounds. We headed out to explore the shore road, because I reckoned I could remember where everything was. Including the supermarket where I needed to stock up on loo rolls for the weeks ahead. After a bit of ducking and diving - 2 hours of ducking and diving - we did reach the supermarket. Ooohhhh!!!! The miracle of air conditioning.

All stocked up, and time to head back to the hotel, via numerous Avenidas and not necessarily the right ones. City tour booked for the afternoon, so needed to make sure we reached the hotel in plenty time. And considering the slight diversions to find the supermarket, then there was really no time for dilly dallying.

The city tour was not by open-topped decker, but by comfortable fully roofed mini-bus. Which was a relief, adn a pleasant no-pollution experience. The tour guide was great and we were led all around the Miraflores and downtown areas of the city, finishing up in the catacombs

which were really interesting.

Then back to the hotel to wait for the rest of the group, who arrived minus one persons luggage and one super guitar. Looks like we're not going to get our musical interlude for the present!!
