hey😊

after my volunteering time in huancayo i´ve been back on the road. and when i say that, i mean many many hours... to start with i followed my original plan and made my way to NAZCA. that was about an 18 hours trip from huancayo...but definately worth it to see the nazca lines. nowadays it´s still not really clear how and why they have emerged..there are many theories. some of them trace them back to ancient nazca people, but they have no idea how they could have made the lines since they are so big that you can only really see the shapes from far above...that's also why a booked a flight in a little chesna to see them from the sky😊 was quite an experience...you can really feel every little brease of wind in that little box with wings😊 and for the lines...well, i could definately see them but the pictures seem as if i was a geology student, trying to take pictures of soil samples...sorry ian, no offense, but they don't make the the most exciting holiday pics😊 it was also in nazca that i met a lovely guy from prague and a couple from marseille. funnily and annoyingly at the same time we found out that we'd all paid different prices for our rooms at the hotel. i definately won the game of "who pays most" with 12 dollars...then i went to complain and they tried to tell me that my room was much nicer and i had a tv (which by the way didn't work) and i had special breakfast ( whatever, all the others had juice and eggs too) and anyway, how would that make a difference of 15 soles..? well, at least it was the only time that happened on the whole trip, so no need to cry about it! since i don't always like eating on my own it was cool to go for lunch with this couple and jan, the guy from prague. and i don't really know how it happened but he managed to inspire me to go to arequipa...doesn't sound like a bit deal now but it makes it a lot more complicated when i mention that that's actually 16 hours in the opposite direction from where i was supposed to go...still wouldn't matter so much if i didn't have to be back in lima on schedule to meet up with annemieut hey, what am i complaining about, i wanted some action before going back to leeds...so that's why i spent three consecutive nights on buses...first night to go to arequipa, which really is very beautiful. the drive there was a bit of a mission though cause we got stuck in a street blockade for 4 hours. luckily my new friend jan had loads of chocolate cookies to keep us going😊 so the next night we had to be on a bus again to get to the colca canyon early enough in the morning to have the best view....it was just amazing..1200 meters deep and plenty of green hills. and the way to get there was at least as good as the canyon itself...terraces with green and yellow fields and cows, donkeys, sheep, lamas...just incredible. in the end we even saw condors flying over the canyon on the look for their breakfast😊 they are just huuuuge....one of them flew right at us..obviously still really high above but you could definately feel a very strong presence. same as with the nazca lines: in the pictures they look just about like sparrows😊 after that we cruised around a little longer to see some traditional villages in the region.then we got back to arequipa and after i had said buy to jan i was on the way back to pisco already. and that's where i am now. already managed to arrange a trip to the "islas ballestas" for tomorrow, to see sea lions, penguins, flamingos, pelicans and all sorts of funny animals😊 so now i just need to manage to get to my room without crossing the hotel manager's way otherwise i'll be dragged out for some pisco drinking and actually the only thing i really need is an early night😊

bye bye
