Costa Verde
The 'green coast'in Lima, Cristi took us on a beautiful drive around Miraflores Well here is the first entry...first of many hopefully! The last five days have been so awesome ~ it´s so cool to think that there is still so much time left!! So here´s a little run down of how things have gone so far...
28th ~ got into Lima, was picked up at the airport by Kike (Kee'ke) .. who is a driver that Cristi sent for me...now here´s a story for you guys...my brother, who goes to school in Nova Scotia, had a few classes with this girl who as it turns out is from Lima. Long story short, we get in contact, and she´s amazing. So she sends this driver to pick me up from the airport, we swing by Callie´s hostel to pick her up and we set off for Cristi´s house! Little did we know it was going to be one of the most beautiful houses i´ve ever seen. It was incredible. So we get there, hang out, eat some delicious food and get some plans goin for the next few days ....private beach houses in the South of Lima...ohhhh yaaa.....
29th ~ We have more delicious food, pack up our stuff and head to Cristi´s mom´s
View from Beach house #2
This was the ´backyard´we partied in for new years. Little pool, big porch, big waves, so much fun house, which is a little closer to the beach and also super nice. We have our first Pisco Sour (THE drink of Peru...well, the alcoholic one. Their other drink is Inca Kola...bright yellow pop ...the taste of Peru apparently. It´s not too bad) ... We have another fabulous lunch..and it´s off for a short drive through of Lima. We are taken along the Costa Verde (Green Coast) and through a few neighbourhoods before we our on our way to the FIRST beach house...We arrive in Playa Arica which is about 30 minutes outside of Lima, we travelled there in Cristi´s boyfriend´s (Jorge) friends´car. We got to the beach house sort of late, ate more, and hung out with a few beers. I have never heard so much Spanish in my life. And i certainly didn´t understand more than about 30% of it. But oh well ... i´ll learn. Cristi was my translator for some of it, and some of the people there spoke some english anyway .. fun times!
30th ~ We woke up to find the beach pretty close, and pretty nice. It wasn´t super amazing, but it was only our stopover point. We played some beach volleyball, and
First Beach house Beach
Rough Water...no swimming. Oh well. On to the next one! Beach house # 2 had way better water to swim in, and huge fun waves to play in! Movin on! chilled til about 4pm when we took off for the next beach house. Callie was super sick starting on the night I got there...which really sucked, she was not doin too well, but thankfully is much better now. Got to beach house #2 in Cerra Azul, it was dark by the time we got there, but you could tell it was sooo pretty. We had to share a bed because there were so many people coming to party for new years. And with Callie still sick, it was a bit of a pain! But hey, we survived! Had a chill night with some drinks to prep ourselves for the big party!!!
31st ~ New years eve day! oooooohhh...i bet the suspense is killing you all.
Yes. It was amazing. We had a big party at the beach house...tons of people, food, music, dancing, fireworks and drinks of course! It was sooo much fun .. i´ll post pictures up on here hopefully later tonight! I realized when i took my ´last´picture at 7am that the sun was up, and that it was probably time to go to bed...needless to say, it was a new years i won´t forget! So
It can´t be done justice
Really. Take a good look. Hilarious. different from Vancouver! Saw the funniest thing EVER...this big paper cow thing, with fireworks attached to it EVERYWHERE..well, this guy puts it over his head, runs around the yard with these fireworks going off everywhich way. And then, it catches on fire! So he throws it down..and then the fireworks start shooting into where everyone is! oh my gosh, it was the funniest thing i´ve ever seen. I guess you sort of had to have seen it. Between the fireworks shooting everywhere (they were more like sparklers i think... because they didnt hit people) and the champagne being sprayed everywhere, it was a messy start to the new year! We also ate 12 grapes at midnight to provide us with good luck for the next 12 months. So much fun. All in all...how were your guys´new years (ok, i can´t find the question mark...so pretend that was a question!)
January 1st...2007!!! Happy New Year! Feliz Ano (there should be a squiggly on top of that n)
New years day we left Cerro Azul and made our way to Pisco · home of the Pisco Sour...yummy! It´s a fishing village where we are staying and today (the 2nd) we
Crazy Cow Thing
Ok, This may not look as funny as it was.. but how can you look at this picture and not just imagine Mayhem!? And then it caught on fire! Anyway, I have the video too. cracks me up. did a tour of the Isla Ballestas (poor man´s galapagos apparently...and yes, SO nice) and then also of Paracas National Reserve. Both places were really nice, and lots of pictures were taken, lots of birds, sea lions and penguins were seen and no one was pooped on! Phew! (In the guide book it says to wear a hat, because ¨direct guano hits¨aren´t uncommon...hilarious.
And this brings us to now! I´ll put up some pictures up asap. Hopefully tonight when we go into town for dinner and bank machines! Hope this didn´t bore you, cuz it´s sure been a blast so far!! Hope everyone is doing fabulous...love you all!
Chau!

So, Ireland?
OMG LBOSS! i love you and miss you, and am soooo jealous of the trip thus far. it sounds amazing. i just live in ireland, and go to work and drink too much... sounds good that you'll be learning a bit more spanish... i definitely never got far with the gaelic here! keep the stories coming, and photos. my new years was in london... i got HAMMERED on the 30th with a gay couple - friends of mine, in soho. it was so awesome, but needless to say, my new years was relatively sober, watching fireworks by the london eye and walking around the streets laughing at crazy people (aka. if i was drunk i would have been them!) can you introduce yourself as LBoss to everyone in south america? they'll totally remember you forever with a name as cool as that!
