Up early to go white water rafting! A hour and a half ride to the Urubamba river with 3 hungover Irish infront of us which was quite funny. However we quietly hoped they wern't in our boat! With both of us new to white water rafting we where apprehensive of what was to come or rather shitting one. The changing rooms were a short drive away from the starting point. We squeezed into our wet suits, helped load the boats onto the the top of the minibus and off we went. We had a brief introduction about the boat, the orrs and the commands, that took Sophie a while to get to grips with! With six people and a guide in our boat off we went down the river. Slowly at first getting used to the paddling and the commands. Half way down the river we came to a big rapid. So we attacked it wanting to break the waves and go down it with no problems. With it being a big rapid the boat had turned 90 degrees so we had to transfer the weight quickly. With the shout 'ALL LEFT' me being on the left side Sophie had to dive to my side. I think she must have panicked and lunged herself across the boat into me nearly pushing me off the boat! It was only for the guide grabbing my hand at the last second and pulling me back into the boat that I didn't float down the rapid! We had great fun, they said it was level 3, which was probably high enough for the first time. M x
