View over a small square in Beautiful Cusco Unfortunately despite out flight home not leaving until later this afternoon, we were told we had to checkout at 8:30AM. And after the exhausting week we’d had, you can imagine that no-one was particularly happy about it, but the hotel insisted we checked out by then. Hannah and I packed our gear and left anything we no longer needed with the charity and headed downstairs to meet the rest of the group. We had an emotional speech from George who had lost someone close to him to cancer and we were all praised for our fundraising efforts. The whole experience was one of the best of my life and I will never forget it. But it wasn’t over just yet, today we had half a day in Cusco to really explore it, especially since we didn’t really get a chance before we headed out on our trek.
Most of the group split up to explore at their own pace, Hannah and I headed out to check out some of the many market stalls. We bumped into some of the group who had the same idea as us, and most of us managed not to spend our money on rubbish. A

Another view of the small sqaure from inside the Cusco chocolate factory few of us stopped off to get lunch at McDonalds, not a Peruvian specialty by any means, but we were all craving it. Afterwards we searched the streets for the Cusco chocolate museum and gorged ourselves on delicious liquid hot chocolate before slowly making our way back to the hotel, in time to catch our coach to the airport. We said our last goodbyes to George, Max and the crew and thanked them for an incredible trip, then jumped on the bus to Cusco airport. I think everyone was anticipating things to start going wrong again, but surprisingly everyone checked in ok, even if on a few different flights.
After a short flight we arrived in Lima, the airport looked all too familiar. Charity challenge had arranged some staff to help Hannah retrieve her luggage while here. We had a couple of hours before out next flight, enough time to collect her lost bag and check it in the next flight. We wandered around the airport going from desk to desk trying to find someone who could help. We finally found a supervisor and after a 20 minute wait finally he was free to see us. We were now seriously running short of time, so quickly explained what had happened, trying to convince him that Hannah’s luggage was here somewhere. We showed him the claim form, the text message but still he was reluctant to be of any use. He told us to arrange it when we got back to London, there was not enough time to find it then check it in. So I told him, angrily, to find our luggage immediately, we were not leaving without it, if we missed our flight they would have to pay for a new one.
He told us to follow him as he rushed off with Hannah, back through customs to get her bag. Finally we had it, after so much unnecessary wasting of both our time he found her bag and we checked it in. We literally ran across the airport pushed through security and only barely made the flight at all. Considering how useless LAN airlines were on the way out, the return flight was fantastic. We landed in Madrid mid-afternoon, having our second lunch of the day, again at McDonalds, before catching our 7th and final flight of the trip back to London. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, and although eventful thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
